Ankita Lokhande Seeks Lighter Roles: 'I Want People to See Me as Ankita'
Ankita Lokhande Wants to Move Beyond Intense Film Roles

Popular actress Ankita Lokhande, known for her powerful performances on television and in films, has expressed a significant shift in her career aspirations. In a candid reflection, she revealed a growing desire to step away from intense characters and embrace roles that are lighter and closer to her own personality.

From Strong Characters to Personal Roles

In an earlier interview, conducted while she was promoting her film 'Swatantra Veer Savarkar', Ankita opened up about her evolving mindset towards selecting projects. She explained that while she loves and is proud of the strong roles she has undertaken, she now feels drawn to a different kind of performance.

"You know, I want to do every kind of role that motivates me and inspires other people to see," Ankita stated. She acknowledged her history with powerful characters but emphasized a new direction: "But now I want to do something really lighthearted and, you know, very nice where I can be myself."

The Weight of Portraying Real-Life Icons

The actress also spoke about the immense responsibility and effort required when portraying real-life or historically significant figures, such as her role as Yamuna Bai. She highlighted the emotional and energetic investment needed for such parts, which comes with the pressure of doing justice to these "big names."

Despite her success in this space, Ankita made it clear she does not wish to be confined to it indefinitely. Her core wish is simple yet profound: "And now I think I should just do something that is more of me, very lighthearted, and where people can see me as Ankita."

A Natural Transition, Not a Forced Move

Often celebrated as one of the few television stars to successfully cross over into Bollywood, Ankita Lokhande clarified that her journey was never a calculated strategy. She described her path as organic, driven by passion rather than force.

"I was just walking on my path; whatever used to come my way, I used to take that thing with… my whole passion. I never forced myself to be on this side," she remarked, downplaying the notion of a planned transition.

Current Work and a Glimpse of Her Lighter Side

On the current work front, Ankita Lokhande was most recently seen showcasing her fun-loving personality on the reality show 'Laughter Chefs Season 2', where she appeared alongside her husband, Vicky Jain. The show offered audiences a delightful glimpse of her playful and relaxed side, away from the intensity of her dramatic roles.

While she is currently away from the small screen for scripted projects, her participation in the reality series aligns with her stated desire to let the public see more of her authentic self.
