Anubhav Sinha Reveals Four New Scripts in Development After 'Assi' OTT Release
With his courtroom drama 'Assi', starring Taapsee Pannu, now available on OTT platforms, acclaimed director Anubhav Sinha is not resting on his laurels. The filmmaker has already penned two fresh narratives, is actively developing a third, and intends to write a fourth during an upcoming hiatus. This creative surge hints at a diverse slate, including an action film, a historical drama set in the 1940s, and a potential return to romance.
Post-'Assi' Creative Momentum
In an interview with Mid-day, Sinha disclosed that his creative juices have been flowing freely since 'Assi' hit theaters in February. "I have written two stories so far and am starting the third one. Then I am going for a chhutti (break), where I will write my fourth," he revealed. While specifics remain under wraps, the director shared the broad genres captivating his imagination.
Exploring Diverse Genres
One genre that consistently draws Sinha is action, a territory he last ventured into with the 2005 film 'Dus'. "I keep getting attracted every now and then to make a cool action film," he admitted, suggesting a potential revival of his flair for high-octane cinema.
Equally compelling for him are historical dramas, particularly those set in India during the transformative 1940s. A recent literary experience has only intensified this interest. "There are so many films I want to make set in India of the 1940s. It was an outstanding phase," Sinha explained. "I finished reading 'The Case for India' by Will Durant, who visited the country in the 1930s. It's a beautiful book. After finishing it, I thought to myself, 'There are so many films in this'." This indicates a deep dive into India's rich historical tapestry for future projects.
