Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli Seal Multi-Crore Alibaug Land Deal
Alibaug's celebrity landscape just gained more star power. Power couple Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli have reportedly finalized a major real estate purchase in the coastal town. The actress and her cricketer husband have invested heavily in a new property, adding to their growing portfolio in the area.
Details of the High-Value Transaction
Property registration documents reveal the couple purchased a 5.1-acre land parcel for approximately Rs 37.86 crore. The transaction involved two adjoining plots located in Zirad village. Officials registered the deal on January 13, according to data from analytics firm CRE Matrix.
The sellers were Sonali Amit Rajput, a director at Samira Land Assets Pvt. Ltd. The couple paid a stamp duty of around Rs 2.27 crore for the property. Virat Kohli's brother, Vikas Kohli, handled the formalities on behalf of the star duo.
Building on Previous Alibaug Investments
This purchase represents the couple's second significant investment in Alibaug. Back in 2022, Sharma and Kohli acquired nearly eight acres of land through two separate deals worth Rs 19.24 crore. They bought that property from real estate developer Samira Habitats.
The couple has since constructed a luxury vacation home on their earlier acquisition. Their latest land buy expands their footprint in the popular coastal retreat.
Celebrity Neighbors in Alibaug
Alibaug continues to attract high-profile buyers from Bollywood and sports. Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh purchased a luxury bungalow in Mapgaon during 2021 for about Rs 22 crore. Their property sits roughly ten kilometers from Sharma and Kohli's new land.
Other notable owners include:
- Suhana Khan, who bought a 1.5-acre property with three houses in Thal village in 2023 for an estimated Rs 12.91 crore
- Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma, who owns a 4-acre plot purchased in 2021 in his wife Ritika Sajdeh's name
The area has transformed into a preferred getaway for India's entertainment and sports elite. Its proximity to Mumbai makes it an ideal location for private retreats.
Broader Context of the Purchase
This transaction follows reports that the couple granted General Power of Attorney to manage their Indian properties. That earlier development sparked speculation about a potential permanent move to the United Kingdom with their children, Vamika and Akaay.
The Alibaug investment demonstrates their continued commitment to maintaining assets in India. It also highlights the enduring appeal of the Konkan coastline for wealthy investors seeking privacy and luxury.
Real estate experts note that celebrity purchases often drive up property values in surrounding areas. Alibaug's market has seen steady growth as more high-net-worth individuals acquire vacation homes there.
