AR Ameen Steps Out of His Father's Shadow with New Musical Milestone
In the vast landscape of Indian music, the name AR Rahman resonates as a global icon whose legacy has inspired generations. Now, his son, AR Ameen, is meticulously crafting his own narrative in the industry, moving beyond the shadow of his father's monumental achievements. His latest release, the track 'Bheegi Bheegi', created in collaboration with his father and featuring actors Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur, represents a pivotal moment in his evolving career.
A Collaborative Journey with a Legendary Father
Working alongside AR Rahman, Ameen described the experience as profoundly emotional and deeply inspiring. He emphasized that their relationship in the studio transcends familial ties, rooted in a mutual professional respect that enhances their creative synergy. "It was a great and very nice feeling to have him with me on the song," Ameen shared in an interview with Hindustan Times. He highlighted that their connection is balanced between affection and a strong work ethic, stating, "We have a lot of respect for each other professionally too." This dynamic allows them to navigate the complexities of music production with a shared vision, blending tradition with innovation.
Carving a Unique Identity Amidst Scrutiny
Being the offspring of a world-renowned musician inevitably subjects Ameen to intense public scrutiny, where admiration often intertwines with criticism. However, he remains unfazed by this duality, acknowledging that it is an inherent part of his journey. "It comes with the territory. The whole package is that there is hate and there is love," he remarked. Rather than succumbing to comparisons, Ameen is committed to authenticity, striving to pave his own path without imitation. "I'm trying to pave my own path. I'm not trying to be like anyone, and I hope my originality stays," he asserted.
Reflecting on his father's illustrious career, Ameen shared a valuable lesson he has internalized: "What I have learnt from his journey is that don't judge a book by its cover." This philosophy guides his approach, as he aims to let his work speak for itself over time, building a reputation based on merit rather than lineage.
Surprise Reunion of Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur
The music video for 'Bheegi Bheegi' brought an unexpected delight with the reunion of Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur, who previously shared the screen in 'Sita Ramam'. Ameen expressed his gratitude for their participation, noting that coordinating their busy schedules was a fortunate alignment. "In their respective busy schedules, I'm very grateful and glad that the timing could work where both of them could come and make this happen," he said.
He admitted to being pleasantly surprised by their swift agreement to join the project, confessing, "I didn't expect DQ sir or Mrunal to say yes." The track itself had a lengthy gestation period, with Ameen revealing that it was in development for nearly a year before its release, adding, "So it has had its own journey."
Emphasizing Respect and Recognition in Music Production
Beyond the glitz of stardom, Ameen underscored the importance of acknowledging every individual involved in the creative process. He advocates for a culture of respect that extends from the musicians to the behind-the-scenes crew. "We should respect every person from the lightman to the person serving us food… Everyone is putting a lot of time and effort into every role. So respecting them and the musicians is really important," he emphasized.
Looking ahead, Ameen aspires to leverage his platform to uplift and recognize unsung talents within the industry. He aims to create opportunities that highlight diverse contributions, fostering an environment where every role is valued. This commitment reflects his broader vision of contributing positively to the entertainment landscape, ensuring that his journey is not just about personal success but also about collective growth.
