Arjith Shankar, the son of acclaimed filmmaker S. Shankar, has officially entered the film industry with the launch of his debut project titled 'Lover Boy'. The film's production began with a traditional pooja ceremony, marking an auspicious start.
Film Details and Team
The romantic drama is directed by Ashok Kumar, a debutant who previously worked as an assistant to filmmaker Atlee. The film pairs Arjith opposite Telugu actress Krithi Shetty, who was last seen in Pradeep Ranganathan's 'LIK'. Music composer Thejas Krishna is making his Tamil debut with this project.
Several notable figures attended the pooja ceremony, including directors H. Vinoth, A. R. Murugadoss, and Jason Sanjay, along with producer Madhan.
Official Announcement and Reactions
The production team shared an official announcement on social media, describing the launch as "an auspicious start to a journey filled with love, laughter, and rosy beginnings." S. Shankar also posted pictures from the ceremony on his social media accounts.
Fans expressed their excitement in the comments. One user wrote, "Best wishes to the entire team of Lover Boy. Blockbuster loading..." Another commented, "After your next project, kindly write a story for your son sir. He looks promising. Need good directors like you. Kindly don't hesitate."
Shankar's Recent Work and Upcoming Projects
Director S. Shankar's recent directorial ventures include 'Game Changer' (2025), a Telugu political action film starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani, which received mixed responses. He also directed the Kamal Haasan starrer 'Indian 2' (2024), which also garnered varied reviews. Following mixed feedback and poor box office performances for his films after Vikram's 'I', fans are eagerly awaiting his comeback.
Recent reports suggest that Shankar is planning a fast-paced thriller with a young hero, which may happen before his highly anticipated film 'Velpari', written by Su. Venkatesan.
