Renowned devotional singer Anup Jalota stepped out on Thursday to cast his vote in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections. Celebrities Join the Voting Process

Director and producer Zoya Akhtar also exercised her franchise in Mumbai. Many other well-known personalities turned up to vote across the city. The list includes actor Suniel Shetty, singer and music composer Vishal Dadlani, celebrated lyricist Gulzar, and actor John Abraham. Their presence highlighted the importance of civic engagement.

Widespread Polling Across Maharashtra

Voting began early this morning across 29 municipal corporations in Maharashtra. The elections follow an intense campaign period. They are considered crucial for major urban centers. Key cities involved are Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Nashik, and Pimpri-Chinchwad.

The State Election Commission provided detailed voter statistics. A total of 3.48 crore voters are eligible to cast their ballots. These voters will decide the fate of 15,908 candidates. The candidates are contesting for 2,869 seats across 893 wards in the 29 corporations. The state administration set up 39,092 polling centers to facilitate the process.

Polling Schedule and Results

Polling stations opened at 7:30 am today. Voting will continue until 5:30 pm. The counting of votes is scheduled to take place tomorrow. Citizens await the results that will shape local governance in these important municipalities.
