Makarand Deshpande Highlights Director's Role in Dhurandhar's Impact
In a recent interview, veteran actor Makarand Deshpande shared his unique perspective on the upcoming film Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna. Deshpande offered a viewpoint that diverges from popular opinion, emphasizing that while the performances are impactful, the real credit should not primarily go to the actors. He elaborated on his overall impression of the film, providing insights that shed light on its creative foundations.
Comparing Dhurandhar to the Classic Satya
Deshpande drew a compelling comparison between Dhurandhar and the 1998 cult classic Satya, directed by Ram Gopal Varma and starring Manoj Bajpayee and J.D. Chakravarthy. "I liked his film. I felt it is a version of 'Satya'," he stated in his conversation with ABP Live. The seasoned actor praised Dhurandhar for its grounded storytelling, noting that the narrative feels more realistic and performance-driven, with strong character portrayals throughout the film.
He further highlighted how Dhurandhar focuses on intense drama rather than exaggerated action, saying, "More realistic where people are not flying. And there's intensity, and there are actors acting." Deshpande added that much like Satya, the film benefits from a robust ensemble cast and well-crafted characters, which contribute to its authentic feel.
Crediting Director Aditya Dhar Over Actors
When prompted to choose between Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna for their performances, Deshpande shifted the focus to director Aditya Dhar, who helmed Dhurandhar: The Revenge, set for release on March 19. "I think Aditya Dhar should be credited for this. Usne Akshaye Khanna ko banaya," he remarked, appreciating how the filmmaker meticulously shaped each character with depth and nuance.
Deshpande concluded by asserting that just as Ram Gopal Varma was rightly credited for Satya, Aditya Dhar deserves similar recognition for Dhurandhar. He emphasized that the director's vision played a crucial role in bringing the story and its characters to life, making the film stand out in today's cinematic landscape. This perspective underscores the importance of directorial influence in crafting memorable performances and narratives.
