Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra, popularly known as the "He-Man of Bollywood," has been discharged from Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital after receiving treatment for breathlessness. The 89-year-old film icon was admitted on November 1 and left the medical facility on Wednesday morning to continue his recovery at home.
Hospital Discharge and Health Status
Dr. Pratit Samdani, who led the medical team treating the veteran actor, confirmed to NDTV that "Dharmendraji has been discharged from the hospital around 7.30 am. He will be treated at home as the family has decided to give him home treatment." An ambulance was spotted transporting the actor from the hospital to his residence, marking a positive turn in his health journey.
The Deol family issued an official statement addressing both his health status and the recent false rumors circulating online. "Mr. Dharmendra has been discharged from the hospital and will continue his recovery at home. We kindly request everyone to refrain from speculation and respect his and the family's privacy."
Addressing False Death Rumors
On Tuesday, several websites and social media platforms spread incorrect information claiming the veteran actor had passed away, causing widespread concern among his fans and the film industry. His daughter, Esha Deol, promptly dismissed these fake reports, confirming that her father was "stable and recovering" in the hospital at that time.
The family's official statement specifically addressed these baseless rumors, emphasizing the importance of respecting their privacy during this recovery period. This isn't the first time false information about celebrity health has circulated online, highlighting the challenges public figures face in maintaining accurate information flow.
Dharmendra's Legacy and Family Tree
Beyond his health update, Dharmendra remains celebrated not only for his iconic film career spanning decades but also for his extensive family. Married twice, he is the proud father of six children, including superstar sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, and daughters Vijeta, Ajeeta, Esha Deol, and Ahana Deol.
First Marriage with Prakash Kaur: Dharmendra married Prakash Kaur when he was 19 years old, and they have four children together. Sunny Deol, the eldest son, has established himself as one of Bollywood's biggest action heroes with blockbusters like Gadar and Border. Bobby Deol has carved his own successful path with hits like Gupt and recently made a strong comeback with Animal.
Their daughters Vijeta and Ajeeta have chosen lives away from the film industry. Vijeta serves as director of Rajkamal Holdings and Trading Private Limited in New Delhi, while Ajeeta lives quietly in California with her family.
Second Marriage with Hema Malini: After establishing his acting career in Mumbai, Dharmendra married actress Hema Malini in 1980. Their marriage, though initially controversial, has endured for over four decades. They have two daughters together - Esha Deol, who followed her parents into acting with films like Dhoom, and Ahana Deol, who maintains a low profile while pursuing her passion for dance.
The Deol family continues to be one of Bollywood's most prominent dynasties, with multiple generations now active in the film industry and beyond.
