Doctor Makes Bollywood Debut in Dhurandhar 2 After On-Set Treatment

Doctor's Unexpected Bollywood Break in Blockbuster Spy Thriller

While Ranveer Singh's high-octane spy thriller 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' continues its record-breaking global box office run, a heartwarming real-life story from its Punjab filming schedule has captured public attention. Dr. Sunny Ashok, a dedicated government medical officer based in Ludhiana, unexpectedly found himself making his Bollywood debut in the film's climactic sequence following a remarkable chain of events that began with a medical emergency on set.

Medical Emergency Turns into Cinematic Opportunity

Dr. Sunny Ashok, who serves patients at a government health facility in Kalakh village, was originally summoned to the film set on July 8, 2025, to attend to co-star Arjun Rampal. The actor, who portrays ISI agent Major Iqbal in the espionage thriller, had sustained a head injury while filming a particularly demanding railway chase sequence across Punjab locations near Ludhiana and Shahnewal Airport.

"There was considerable panic on set as it initially appeared Arjun might require scans and possible hospitalization," Dr. Ashok recalled in an interview with The Tribune. "Fortunately, the injury proved not to be serious. I conducted thorough reflex checks, and everyone was relieved to confirm he was okay."

Ranveer Singh's Surprising Invitation

The story took an extraordinary turn three days later on July 11 when Dr. Ashok returned to the sets during filming at Shahnewal Airport. What began as a routine medical visit transformed into a life-changing encounter when he crossed paths with superstar Ranveer Singh.

"I simply asked Ranveer for a photograph," the doctor explained. "To my astonishment, he put his arm around my shoulder and said, 'Brother, why settle for just a photo? We'll include you in the movie itself.' I initially thought he was joking."

Director Aditya Dhar immediately embraced the spontaneous idea and personally briefed Dr. Ashok about a crucial scene from the film's climax where Ranveer Singh's character requires urgent medical attention. "That brief moment became my scene in the movie, though it appears for just a split second," Dr. Ashok revealed.

Natural Performance Earns Director's Praise

The medical professional turned actor completed his scene in a single take, with director Aditya Dhar commending his natural performance. "Dhar congratulated me for acting completely naturally," Dr. Ashok shared. "He noted that I never looked directly at the camera and behaved exactly as a real doctor would when seeing an injured Indian hero disembarking from an aircraft."

The doctor also expressed admiration for the entire film crew, particularly highlighting the down-to-earth nature of both Ranveer Singh and Arjun Rampal. "Everyone on set was exceptionally friendly and professional," he added.

Dhurandhar's Record-Breaking Box Office Performance

Directed by Aditya Dhar, 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' has achieved remarkable commercial success, crossing the Rs 800 crore mark globally within just five days of its March 19, 2026 release. The film has collected over Rs 519 crore domestically in India and is rapidly approaching the prestigious Rs 1000 crore club.

The star-studded ensemble cast features Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Rakesh Bedi, along with supporting performances from Mustafa Ahmed, Danish Pandor, Gaurav Gera, Mohit Malik, and Danish Iqbal. The film's unprecedented success and this heartwarming behind-the-scenes story demonstrate how unexpected moments can create lasting memories both on and off screen.
