Mumbai Police Ramps Up Security for Rohit Shetty After Juhu Firing Incident

In the wake of the alarming firing incident that occurred outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty's residence at Shetty Tower in Juhu, security arrangements surrounding the prominent Bollywood director have been significantly enhanced. The Mumbai Police, having already fortified protection at his home, is now extending similar comprehensive security measures to the sets of his upcoming comedy franchise installment, Golmaal 5, which is preparing to commence production shortly.

Proactive Security Planning for Golmaal 5 Production

According to a detailed report by Mid-day, security protocols are being meticulously organized well in advance, despite the production team still awaiting final confirmation regarding the exact shoot schedule. A member of the film's creative team revealed that Golmaal 5 was initially scheduled to begin filming in Mumbai after February 15. However, the ultimate timeline will hinge on Rohit Shetty's personal decisions and necessary approvals from law enforcement agencies. As of now, there has been no official announcement indicating any delay in the production schedule.

Stringent Access Control and Surveillance Measures

The security blueprint for the Golmaal 5 set is reportedly designed with rigorous access restrictions. Approximately 60 security personnel will be deployed, operating under a two-tier system comprising local police forces and Shetty's personal security team. The filmmaker will function within a strictly controlled zone, with access limited to only a select few individuals.

Key security protocols include:

  • Mandatory pre-registration and valid ID proof for all individuals entering the set, including junior artistes, vendors, and daily-wage crew members.
  • Complete prohibition of on-the-spot entries to ensure only authorized personnel are present.
  • Tight supervision of vehicle movement, with all equipment trucks and vanity vans requiring pre-clearance and logging at designated entry points.

Furthermore, production details will be closely guarded to maintain confidentiality. Call sheets will be distributed selectively, and shoot locations will be disclosed in a staggered manner. The exact timing and specific locations will be shared strictly on a need-to-know basis to prevent any security breaches.

Rakesh Maria Biopic Temporarily Pending

Concurrently, Rohit Shetty's other anticipated project, a biopic on former Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria starring John Abraham, has been temporarily put on hold. The film, which began shooting in April 2025 and last filmed in South Mumbai, reportedly has only about two weeks of shoot remaining. However, the team is currently reassessing the schedule in light of recent developments. Shetty was in Ooty for a location recce until January 30, but the remaining shoot will now be re-evaluated considering the heightened security concerns.

Film Industry Bodies Condemn Attack

The recent firing incident has sparked widespread outrage across the Indian film industry. Prominent associations, including the Indian Film & Television Directors' Association (IFTDA) and the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA), have publicly condemned the act. In its statement, AICWA drew parallels with past violent episodes involving actors Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan, as well as the tragic murder of Baba Siddique, highlighting an alarming pattern of intimidation.

"This reflects a systematic attempt to create an atmosphere of fear and intimidation within the film industry," the association stated, emphasizing the need for stronger protective measures for industry professionals.

The enhanced security measures underscore the serious concerns for safety in the entertainment sector, with Mumbai Police taking proactive steps to ensure the well-being of one of Bollywood's most successful filmmakers as he prepares for his next major production.
