FIR Registered Against Bollywood Celebrities and BJP MP for Alleged Role in Investment Fraud
In a significant development, veteran Bollywood actors Govinda, Shakti Kapoor, Chunky Panday, and Bharatiya Janata Party Member of Parliament Manoj Tiwari have been named in a First Information Report (FIR) related to an alleged investment scam. The case, which has sent shockwaves through the entertainment and political circles, centers on their purported endorsements of a fraudulent scheme operated by Ghaziabad-based company Maxizone Touch Private Limited.
Court-Ordered FIR Based on Investor Complaints
The FIR was registered on the directives of a local court in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, following complaints from aggrieved investors who claimed to have been cheated by the company. According to reports, the investors approached the judiciary after the firm failed to deliver on its promises of high returns on their investments.
One particular complaint highlighted by Bollywood Hungama involved an investor who reportedly invested over ₹30 lakh in Maxizone Touch Pvt Ltd. The company had allegedly assured monthly returns of up to 15 per cent, a claim that proved too good to be true. When neither the interest nor the principal amount was returned as promised, the investor sought legal recourse, leading to police action and the subsequent court order for filing the FIR.
Allegations of Celebrity Endorsements Luring Investors
The FIR alleges that the four celebrities played a crucial role in promoting the company's investment scheme through their endorsements. Their influence and public image are said to have helped attract unsuspecting investors into the fraudulent multi-level marketing (MLM) operation. The complaint asserts that these endorsements significantly contributed to the scheme's ability to lure more people, thereby amplifying the financial damage.
The case has been filed under various sections of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to cheating and criminal conspiracy, underscoring the serious nature of the allegations. The involvement of high-profile figures has added a layer of complexity and public interest to the investigation.
Background of Maxizone Touch and Previous Legal Actions
Maxizone Touch Private Limited has been under scrutiny for some time. In September 2025, Jamshedpur police arrested the company's directors, Chander Bhushan Singh and his wife, Priyanka Singh, as part of a broader investigation into its operations. Investigators revealed that the firm allegedly ran a fraudulent MLM scheme and collected substantial unauthorized deposits from investors.
Furthermore, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had conducted searches linked to alleged investment and cryptocurrency fraud involving the company. The Singh couple reportedly remained absconding for nearly three years before their arrest, highlighting the prolonged nature of the investigation and the challenges faced by authorities in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with investment schemes that promise unrealistically high returns and the potential consequences for celebrities who endorse such ventures without due diligence.
