Hema Malini Votes in BMC Polls, Urges Citizens to Vote

Hema Malini Casts Vote in Mumbai for BMC Elections 2026

Veteran actress and Member of Parliament Hema Malini visited a polling station in Mumbai early on Thursday morning. She participated in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Elections 2026. The actress arrived among the first celebrities to exercise their democratic right.

Hema Malini wore a monotone salwar suit for the occasion. She added a splash of color to the polling day. After completing her vote, she stepped out of the booth. She proudly displayed her inked finger to waiting cameras.

Hema Malini's Message to Mumbai Voters

The actress spoke to media representatives after voting. She urged citizens to act responsibly and perform their civic duties. Hema emphasized the importance of participating in the democratic process.

She called on Mumbaikars to step out and vote. "It is important for all of us to cast our vote," Hema stated. "We must take accountability to make Mumbai even better."

Hema Malini highlighted issues affecting daily life in the city. "If you want security, progress, clean air, and pothole-free roads in Mumbai, then we all have to take responsibility and vote," she explained. "Only by exercising your right to vote will you be able to make Mumbai, which I believe is the best city in the world, even better."

The actress made a direct appeal to citizens. "I request all the citizens of Mumbai to come and vote for the right people," she said.

Public Appearance After Personal Loss

This voting event marks one of Hema Malini's first public appearances since her husband's passing. Actor Dharmendra died in November, just before his 90th birthday.

Hema recently opened up about dealing with her loss. "I was very deeply in sorrow, still that is there," she shared. "But trying to get out of it, because it is too much for me to take. I am strong, that's what everybody says... I am strong, but sometimes you... I have to go on, I have to."

The actress reflected on her 57-year marriage to Dharmendra. "I can't imagine a life without him; I miss him every minute," she admitted. She noted they were not together all the time during their marriage.

"He would always ask, 'Where are you? When are you coming? Are you coming back? Then, I am also coming back from Lonavala,'" Hema recalled. "He would come and be here with me and the family. I feel sad without him. When will I meet him again?"
