Honey Singh Apologizes for Delhi Concert Remarks

Honey Singh Faces Backlash Over Delhi Concert Comments

Popular rapper Honey Singh has publicly apologized for remarks he made during a recent concert in Delhi. The controversy erupted after a video clip from the event went viral on social media platforms.

Viral Clip Sparks Widespread Criticism

During the concert hosted by singers Nanku and Karun, Honey Singh made comments about having sex in cars during Delhi's winter season. His crude language quickly drew criticism from audiences across India. Many found his remarks inappropriate and offensive.

The rapper addressed the controversy through an Instagram video on Thursday evening. He explained his intentions behind the controversial statements.

Medical Consultation Inspired His Approach

Honey Singh revealed he had consulted with medical professionals before the concert. He said, "Before going to this show, I had lunch with a few gynaecologists and sexologists. They told me that the current generation is battling sexually transmitted diseases because of unsafe sex."

When he saw the predominantly Gen Z audience at the concert, he decided to deliver a public health message in language he believed they would understand. "I thought I would give them a message in their language," he explained. "To not have unprotected sex and to use condoms."

Apology for Offensive Language

The rapper acknowledged that his choice of words had hurt many people. "A lot of people were hurt by the language I used," he admitted. "I sincerely apologise to everyone who was offended. I never intended to hurt anyone."

He continued with a personal reflection, saying, "Humans make mistakes. I will try not to repeat it. In the future, I will be more careful about how I say things, who I am speaking to, and how my words can be edited or presented differently from what I intended."

Specific Comments That Caused Controversy

During the Delhi concert, Honey Singh had specifically said, "It's so cold in Delhi. It's fun to have sex in a car in this weather. So have sex in the car in Delhi's cold, but use condoms, guys. Please play safe."

He defended his approach by noting that he wanted to use language familiar to Gen Z audiences. "I felt I should speak in a way they would understand better," he explained. "The kind of language that is commonly used in OTT content and films these days, which Gen Z watches a lot."

Past Struggles with Substance Abuse

This is not the first time Honey Singh has faced public scrutiny. The rapper has been open about his past struggles with substance abuse. Last year, he revealed that drug use had severely impacted his health.

Speaking to NDTV previously, he shared, "Drugs damage you so slowly that you don't even realise it. I quit drugs in 2014 when I fell sick, but even then it took eight years for them to leave my system completely."

He added a warning for others, saying, "I don't want anything like this to happen to anyone, not even my enemies."

Looking Forward with Caution

In his apology video, Honey Singh concluded with a personal appeal to his fans. "I apologise to all of you," he said. "This is your Yo Yo Honey Singh, keep loving me."

The incident highlights the challenges public figures face when trying to communicate sensitive health messages to younger audiences. It also demonstrates how quickly social media can amplify controversial statements made during live events.
