Actor Jayaram Cooperates with ED in Sabarimala Gold Heist Investigation
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has officially recorded the statement of veteran Malayalam actor Jayaram in connection with the high-profile gold heist at the revered Sabarimala temple. The questioning took place at the ED's Kochi office on Tuesday morning, marking a significant development in the ongoing probe into the misappropriation of temple assets.
Jayaram's Media Statement and Emotional Connection to Sabarimala
Addressing the media following the questioning, Jayaram expressed deep emotional ties to Sabarimala, stating that the temple holds a special place for all Malayalis. "Though we have numerous temples across India, Sabarimala stands out as a unique pilgrimage site visited by people from all castes and religions," the actor emphasized. He further asserted that such a sacred place being involved in a financial scam demands thorough investigation and transparency.
"If a scam like this occurred at Sabarimala, it must be brought to light without any delay. Every Malayali has a moral duty to assist in identifying and apprehending all individuals involved in this heist. I consider myself one among those committed to this cause," Jayaram declared during his press interaction.
Details of Jayaram's Involvement and Previous Questioning
Jayaram revealed that he has been frequently invited to various religious ceremonies and pujas across Kerala and other Indian states over the past several years. "I make an effort to attend these events whenever my schedule permits. The individuals connected to this case invited me for a puja in a similar manner and accompanied me on multiple occasions," he explained. The actor clarified that he is cooperating fully with the investigation, trusting the judicial process to uncover any wrongdoing.
He added, "If the Enforcement Directorate obtains any useful information from me, it serves a noble purpose. I sincerely hope that this investigation reaches a just conclusion. If any culprits remain at large, may they be apprehended promptly. As a devout believer who has visited Sabarimala for over five decades, I firmly believe that Lord Ayyappan will not let the guilty escape justice. This is not just my belief but also my duty."
Prior to the ED's questioning, the Kerala Police's Special Investigation Team (SIT) had already interrogated Jayaram at his residence in Chennai. The SIT focused on his connections and dealings with prime accused Unnikrishnan Potti, seeking to establish potential links in the gold heist case.

The Enforcement Directorate's probe into the Sabarimala gold heist has intensified recently, with searches conducted at 21 locations across Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. These operations aim to uncover evidence related to the misappropriation of gold and other valuable temple assets associated with Sabarimala.
The investigation is based on multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) registered by the state crime branch. The ED officially registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) on January 9, 2026, following a favorable court order that authorized the agency to proceed with the financial probe.
This case has drawn widespread attention due to Sabarimala's status as one of India's most prominent pilgrimage destinations, attracting millions of devotees annually.
