"It's not just in my case; I believe anyone who has experienced Goa wants to return repeatedly. You can never truly get enough of Goa," she expressed with genuine enthusiasm. "For me, it represents the capital of rejuvenation, the ultimate vacation destination. Whenever I crave sunshine, authentic shack cuisine, or simply need to slow down my pace, I immediately head to Goa."
Practical Move from Goa to Lonavala
The actress, known for her role in F.I.R., previously resided in Goa for four enriching years before relocating to Lonavala last year. She clarifies that this decision was driven purely by practical considerations rather than any diminished affection for Goa. "The primary reason for our shift to Lonavala was the extreme heat and humidity in Goa," Kaushik explained. "We operate a beauty brand that utilizes natural herbs, flowers, and leaves in all our products. In Goa's intense climate, my formulations would frequently spoil. Lonavala offers a much more suitable environment for preserving these delicate ingredients."
She added, "Personally, I also struggled with the heat, so for both my health and business sustainability, we made this practical choice." Despite this geographical change, her emotional bond with Goa remains completely intact. "I genuinely miss living there," she confessed. "That's precisely why I seize every opportunity to return whenever possible."
Community Bonds That Transformed Goa into Home
Reflecting on her years residing in Goa, Kaushik emphasizes that it was the people, even more than the picturesque surroundings, that made the state feel like home. "Everyone in our colony—the neighbors in adjacent bungalows—have become lifelong friends," she shared warmly. "Even the staff who worked with me, both at home and in our small workshop office, became like family. We maintain regular contact, and they consistently invite me back."
Festival Celebrations and Cultural Integration
She elaborated on the cultural exchanges that deepened her connection: "The affection Goans have shown me—their sweetness, their warmth—is something I will cherish forever. We celebrated every festival together. They would attend our Ganpati celebrations, respectfully standing through the aarti rituals even when they didn't fully understand them. During Durga Puja, the local women would participate in sindoor khela with me. That sense of sisterhood, particularly among women, felt extraordinarily special."
A Defining Moment of Friendship and Support
Kaushik recalls a particularly challenging episode that solidified her faith in these relationships. "While I was filming Carry On Jatta 3 in London, my husband fell seriously ill," she recounted. "I immediately contacted the women from my colony and told them, 'I don't know how, but you must help him.' They took complete charge—organizing meals, coordinating with doctors, and providing constant care. Their support allowed me to remain calm during that crisis, knowing my Goan friends were there for us."
This experience, she notes, exemplifies the deep, trusting bonds she formed during her time in Goa, relationships that transcend geographical distance and continue to enrich her life.
