In a candid revelation on her podcast, reality television star Khloe Kardashian has opened up about an uncomfortable romantic gesture from her former partner, NBA player Tristan Thompson. The incident involved an unexpected serenade by R&B singer Giveon that left Khloe feeling deeply embarrassed.

During a Valentine's Day-themed episode of her podcast 'Khloe in Wonder Land' on February 11, Khloe Kardashian recounted the awkward moment that occurred years ago when she and Tristan Thompson were dating on and off following his infidelity. "There was one time I was serenaded, and it was, I think, just a random day because I wasn't expecting it," Khloe explained, noting this happened before their son Tatum was born, when she only had daughter True with the Canadian basketball player.
Thompson, now 34, had instructed Khloe to "come outside," where she found Giveon, then 30, prepared to perform. "Giveon wasn't who he was now. And he is just singing," Khloe recalled, describing her immediate discomfort with the situation.
'I Was Slapping Him' During the Performance
The reality star detailed her visceral reaction to Thompson's romantic surprise. "I remember I hated Tristan, and I was like, 'Why are you doing this?' And Giveon is pouring his heart out. And Tristan's trying to sit next to me and I'm like, slapping him, and poor Giveon is still singing. It was mortifying."
Khloe felt so awkward about her ex's grand gesture that she called on their daughter to help relieve some tension. "I just need like a third person to get away from Tristan," the Kardashian star explained. "I was so annoyed with Tristan."
Khloe's Sympathy for Giveon's Professionalism
Despite her discomfort with Thompson's gesture, Khloe expressed admiration for Giveon's performance. "I was like, 'God, this guy is such a great singer," she said on her podcast. "Like, Giveon was so professional. He was so great. He didn't break his song at all. He's amazing, I love him."
She added sympathy for the singer's awkward position: "But how awkward for him? Poor guy, I love you, Giveon."
The End of Their Turbulent Relationship
Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson ultimately ended their relationship for good in late 2021. Their final breakup came shortly after Thompson welcomed son Theo, now 4, with Maralee Nichols while he and Khloe were preparing for Tatum's arrival via surrogate.
