Kim Kardashian Breaks Silence on Deleted Sussex Photos Mystery

Months after eagle-eyed fans noticed that photographs featuring Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had quietly vanished from the Instagram accounts of Kim Kardashian and her mother Kris Jenner, the reality television star has finally addressed what truly happened. Speaking candidly on her sister Khloé Kardashian's podcast, Khloé In Wonder Land, Kim clarified that the removal was not driven by any personal drama or fallout but was instead tied to timing and sensitivity surrounding a significant public holiday.

The Real Reason Behind the Photo Deletion

Kim Kardashian explained that the images were captured during Kris Jenner's milestone 70th birthday celebration last November and were briefly shared online before being taken down. "It was really innocent, which is so crazy," the Skims co-founder revealed during the podcast conversation. She emphasized that Jenner and Markle share a long-standing friendship, stating, "Mom and Meghan have been friends for some years now, and they have a really sweet relationship."

According to Kim, she and her mother reviewed photos from the star-studded birthday party and initially believed it was acceptable to post them publicly. "We were told that it was totally cool to post. And then after it was posted, I think they realized it was Remembrance Day, and they didn't want to be seen at a party, even though it's already up, you know, and then taken down," she recalled. The holiday honors armed forces members who died in the line of duty, making the timing of festive party images potentially inappropriate.

How the Situation Escalated Online

Kim expressed that the online reaction to the deleted photos escalated far beyond what was anticipated, transforming into a larger controversy than intended. Reflecting on the moment, she suggested that humor might have helped defuse the situation. "You got to laugh at, like, the situation sometimes and just, like, lighten it up and be if everyone's taking it the wrong way, like, lean in," she said.

She even joked about staging a mock campaign-style post-and-delete moment, saying, "I was like, 'We should do a full Skims campaign.' Take the photo, even just us, like, I'll shoot you at mom, you know, post it and then delete it, like, 30 minutes later. And then say, 'Oh, sorry, I didn't have permission to post those photos for the campaign.'" Kim added that the drama might have been "received differently" if they had "made it light and made it funny" from the start.

Expressing her frustration, Kim shared, "But I hated how that was received for everyone. That sucks. It was just made into something that was so crazy and ridiculous that just didn't have to be."

Background of the Event and Initial Speculation

As previously reported, Prince Harry, 41, and Meghan Markle, 44, attended Kris Jenner's 70th birthday party on November 8, 2025, which was held at the Beverly Hills mansion of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez. Following the event, both Kardashian and Jenner posted photo carousels that included an image with the Sussexes, only to delete it later, sparking widespread online speculation and theories about potential rifts or conflicts.

Kim's explanation now puts to rest the rumors, highlighting how social media reactions can sometimes blow minor incidents out of proportion. The incident serves as a reminder of the careful considerations celebrities must make when sharing content, especially around sensitive dates like Remembrance Day.
