The threatening voice note, which police have confirmed originated from a United States-based telephone number, contained explicit demands for a substantial ransom. Initially reported as Rs 10 crore, the demand has now been verified by investigators to be Rs 20 crore (approximately $2.4 million).

Mumbai Police investigators have taken multiple steps to verify the authenticity of the threat:
- The threatening voice note has been sent to forensic laboratories in Punjab and Haryana for detailed analysis and verification
- Authorities have contacted United States law enforcement agencies to obtain additional information about the originating telephone number
- The sender explicitly identified himself as Harry Boxer in the voice message
