Mumbai Police Escalates Investigation in Ranveer Singh Extortion Case

Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh has become the target of a serious extortion threat, prompting swift action from law enforcement authorities. The actor recently received threatening communications via a voice note sent directly to his manager's mobile phone, leading him to immediately approach the Mumbai Police for protection and investigation.

Lookout Circular Issued Against Key Suspect

In a significant development, the Mumbai Crime Branch has officially issued a Lookout Circular (LOC) against an individual identified as Harichandra, alias Harry Boxer, who authorities believe is a key member of the notorious Bishnoi gang. This legal measure prevents the suspect from leaving the country while the investigation continues.

The threatening voice note, which police have confirmed originated from a United States-based telephone number, contained explicit demands for a substantial ransom. Initially reported as Rs 10 crore, the demand has now been verified by investigators to be Rs 20 crore (approximately $2.4 million).

International Cooperation in Investigation

Mumbai Police investigators have taken multiple steps to verify the authenticity of the threat:

  • The threatening voice note has been sent to forensic laboratories in Punjab and Haryana for detailed analysis and verification
  • Authorities have contacted United States law enforcement agencies to obtain additional information about the originating telephone number
  • The sender explicitly identified himself as Harry Boxer in the voice message

This incident follows closely on the heels of another high-profile security breach in Mumbai's entertainment community - the recent firing incident outside acclaimed filmmaker Rohit Shetty's residence. While no direct connection has been established between these events, the timing has raised concerns about organized criminal activity targeting Bollywood personalities.

Enhanced Security Measures Implemented

In response to the credible threat against Ranveer Singh's safety, Mumbai Police has implemented substantial security enhancements:

  1. Six additional security personnel in civilian clothing have been stationed at the Beau Monde residential society in Worli, where the actor resides
  2. The Crime Branch has formally recorded statements from Ranveer Singh's manager and other relevant parties
  3. Despite the ongoing investigation, no First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at this stage

Ranveer Singh's Professional Commitments Continue

Despite these security concerns, the acclaimed actor continues to focus on his professional commitments. Singh is currently preparing for the release of his upcoming film 'Dhurandhar', directed by Aditya Dhar, which is scheduled for theatrical release on March 19, 2026.

The actor has also been in the news recently for professional disagreements with Farhan Akhtar's production house following his departure from the highly anticipated 'Don 3' project. These developments occur against the backdrop of increased security concerns for high-profile individuals in India's entertainment industry.

The Mumbai Police investigation remains active, with authorities pursuing all available leads to identify and apprehend those responsible for the extortion threats against one of Bollywood's most prominent stars.
