Amritsar admin sets 3-month PNG deadline for eligible homes

The Amritsar district administration has issued a public notice mandating that all eligible households in areas where piped natural gas (PNG) infrastructure is already available must obtain domestic PNG connections within the next three months. The move aligns with guidelines from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and a relevant Gazette Notification.

Deadline and consequences

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Pallavi Sharma stated that after the three-month deadline expires, the supply of LPG cylinders to eligible households may be discontinued as per applicable rules and guidelines. She urged residents to complete the required formalities at the earliest to avoid future inconvenience.

Benefits of switching to PNG

Sharma emphasized that the transition from LPG to PNG aims to provide a safer, cleaner, and more efficient fuel source for domestic use. Wider PNG adoption will also promote environmentally friendly energy consumption and improve convenience for consumers.

Public cooperation sought

Appealing for public cooperation, Sharma said the initiative is in the larger public interest. Residents should take advantage of the existing infrastructure by switching to PNG within the prescribed timeframe. For information or assistance, residents can contact the authorised PNG service provider or the district administration during office hours.
