Director Matt Reeves has officially confirmed several new additions to the cast of 'The Batman: Part II', following a series of announcements on his X (formerly Twitter) account. After months of speculation, Reeves welcomed Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance, Bryan Tyree Henry, and Sebastian Koch to the upcoming sequel starring Robert Pattinson.
Official Cast Announcements
Reeves began unveiling cast members on Wednesday and continued on Thursday. Sharing a GIF from Johansson's 2013 film Under the Skin, he wrote, "Next exit, Gotham… Welcome." He also confirmed Stan's involvement with the post, "In a Gotham state of mind… Welcome." Additionally, he shared GIFs of Charles Dance, Bryan Tyree Henry, and Sebastian Koch, welcoming them to the Gotham universe.
Character Speculations
According to reports, Sebastian Stan is set to portray Harvey Dent, while Scarlett Johansson will allegedly play his wife. This marks a reunion for the stars, who previously played the Winter Soldier and Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Meanwhile, Charles Dance is believed to be playing Charles Dent, Harvey's father. Also joining the cast are Jayme Lawson as Mayor Bella Reál and Gil Perez-Abraham as Officer Martinez.
Filming and Returning Cast
Filming for the sequel is currently underway in the United Kingdom. Robert Pattinson will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman, alongside returning cast members Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb (the Penguin), Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. Reeves concluded his announcements with, "See you all in Gotham... soon."
Plot and Release Date
While plot details remain under wraps, Reeves previously teased that the film's story will unfold during winter. 'The Batman: Part II' is scheduled to release in theatres on October 1, 2027.
