For Malayalis, the dialogue "My phone number is 2255" from the classic film 'Rajavinte Makan' holds a special place in memory. It has lingered in people's minds for decades. Now, that iconic number has made a dramatic comeback in real life.

Mohanlal Secures the Legendary Number

According to reports from Mathrubhumi, superstar Mohanlal has acquired the same famous number for his new vehicle. This small detail has sparked a wave of nostalgia among fans. It connects directly to a beloved piece of cinematic history.

How the Auction Unfolded

The distinctive vehicle number KL-07 DJ 2255 went up for auction at the Ernakulam RTO on Monday. Mohanlal successfully purchased the number for Rs 1.80 lakh. He plans to fix this plate on his new Innova Hycross, a vehicle valued at approximately Rs 33 lakh.

The auction took place online under the supervision of Ernakulam Joint RTO C.D. Arun. Three participants engaged in the bidding process. Starting at a base price of Rs 10,000, the bids gradually climbed to Rs 1.45 lakh. At that point, Mohanlal's representative made a decisive move by raising the offer to Rs 1.80 lakh. The other bidders then withdrew from the competition.

An additional registration fee of Rs 5,000 was also paid. The auction became necessary because two other individuals had applied for the same coveted number.
