Om Raut Set to Direct Action Film Featuring Tiger Shroff and Vidyut Jammwal
In a significant development within the Bollywood film industry, director Om Raut, renowned for his work on the historical blockbuster Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, is poised to take the helm of a high-octane action film starring two of India's most prominent action stars: Tiger Shroff and Vidyut Jammwal. The project is being produced under the banner of Bhushan Kumar, marking a notable reunion between the producer and director following their previous collaboration on the mythological epic Adipurush.
Early Development and Script Discussions Underway
According to sources closely associated with the production, the film is currently in its nascent stages of development. Raut has already pitched a script to both Tiger Shroff and Vidyut Jammwal, and the team is actively engaged in creative discussions to refine the project. "He has pitched a script and they are currently jamming over it. It is at a nascent stage," revealed a source familiar with the matter.
If all proceeds according to plan, the film is expected to commence shooting later this year, potentially adding a major action spectacle to Bollywood's upcoming slate.
Clarification on Directorial Changes and Project Uniqueness
Interestingly, there were earlier rumors suggesting that filmmaker Milap Zaveri might direct this venture. However, those speculations have been put to rest as Zaveri has since been officially announced as the director of another film with the same production house, featuring actor Harshvardhan Rane.
The source emphasized that Raut's project is entirely distinct and not a replacement for any previous plans. "The story by Om is completely different. He has not stepped into Milap's shoes. If everything goes well, the film will go on floors this year," the source added, highlighting the originality of Raut's vision for this action-packed collaboration.
Background on the Key Players Involved
Om Raut last directed the 2023 mythological film Adipurush, starring Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan. Despite generating massive pre-release buzz and achieving substantial box office numbers, the film faced mixed to negative critical reception. In a recent interview, Raut reflected on the film's performance, stating, "Our first day was ₹70 crore, and that's just in India. Our total box office was over ₹400 crore. So, the numbers were very large... With Adipurush, there was a loss of perception, not a loss of revenue."
Tiger Shroff continues to solidify his reputation as one of Bollywood's leading action stars, with recent appearances in big-budget films like Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (2024) and the upcoming Singham Again (2024). Meanwhile, Vidyut Jammwal, known for his martial arts expertise, was last seen in the sports-action film Crakk: Jeetegaa... Toh Jiyegaa (2024) and made an appearance as an antagonist in the Tamil film Madharaasi (2025).
This upcoming project represents a strategic move by producer Bhushan Kumar to bring together a director with a proven track record in large-scale cinema and two actors celebrated for their physical prowess and action sequences, potentially setting the stage for a major commercial entertainer in the Indian film landscape.
