Raveena Ravi Exposes Three-Year Online Harassment Campaign by Sabarish and Twin Brother
In a distressing revelation, actress and dubbing artiste Raveena Ravi has publicly disclosed that she has been subjected to alleged online harassment for nearly three years. On Thursday, the Love Today actress shared explicit screenshots of abusive messages that were sent not only to her but also extended to her family members and close friends.
Harassment Originated from Instagram Contact in 2023
Raveena Ravi explained the origins of this persistent campaign, stating, "I was initially contacted on Instagram in 2023 by this individual named Sabarish. I have never responded to him even once, and I possess all the chat records as evidence." She further elaborated that despite her consistent efforts to block his numerous fake accounts, the harassment continued unabated. "He simply did not stop," she emphasized, highlighting the relentless nature of the abuse.
Police Intervention and Subsequent Resurgence of Harassment
The actress detailed that after she filed an official complaint, the police successfully tracked down the perpetrator in 2024 and arrested him. "He remained silent for approximately a year following his arrest, but now he has started again," Raveena shared, indicating a troubling resurgence of the harassment. This pattern underscores the challenges victims face even after legal action is taken.
Delusional Claims and Victim Blaming
Raveena revealed that the harasser has been operating under delusional beliefs, claiming that they are in a relationship and destined to marry. "He has been living in his own fabricated world, asserting that we are together and will get married. Additionally, he has falsely stated that he is engaged to Aparna Balamurli and has even texted my friends claiming an engagement to me," she disclosed.
Unfortunately, after speaking out, Raveena also encountered victim blaming. "As is often the case, girls are confronted with the same accusatory question: 'Why after three years?'" She posted a screenshot of a comment that insinuated financial motives, which prompted an apology from the commenter. "He sent a personal message saying, 'Akka, sorry. I'll delete it,' and subsequently removed the comment," she recounted.
Apology from Harasser's Father and Mental Health Considerations
Following her public post, the father of the alleged harasser contacted Raveena's mother to apologize. "His father called my mom and expressed regret, pleading, 'Please remove it. That's my son's future. Also, he is a bit mentally sick,'" Raveena shared. She acknowledged awareness of his mental health issues, which contributed to her initial silence. "We were aware of his condition, and that is precisely why we refrained from posting earlier and remained quiet for three years. However, after a certain point, I had no other choice. Unless we issue a stern warning, he will not cease," she asserted, emphasizing the necessity of her public stance to halt the harassment.
This case highlights the severe impact of online harassment on public figures and the complex dynamics involving mental health, victim blaming, and the efficacy of legal measures in such situations.
