RGV Predicts Dhurandhar 2 Fate, Biggest Multi-Starrer

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma recently shared his bold predictions for the upcoming film Dhurandhar 2. He called it the biggest multi-starrer in cinema history. Varma made these comments ahead of any teaser or trailer release for the movie.

RGV's Declaration on Dhurandhar 2

Ram Gopal Varma took to his X account to explain his reasoning. He stated that every character from the first Dhurandhar film has become enormously popular with audiences. According to Varma, this popularity translates into true stardom.

"Dhurandhar 2 will be the biggest multi starrer ever, in the history of cinema," Varma wrote. He emphasized that the characters' value and impact have grown significantly since the first film.

Varma noted that these characters were not necessarily big stars initially. However, they have now transformed into giant superstars in the public eye. This evolution, he argued, will make the sequel an unprecedented multi-starrer event.

The Star-Studded Cast

The Dhurandhar franchise features an impressive ensemble. Ranveer Singh leads the cast in the titular role. The film also stars Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal.

Supporting roles include Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi. This diverse cast has contributed to the film's massive success at the box office.

The Dhurandhar vs Toxic Clash

Dhurandhar 2 is set for release on March 19, 2026. It will clash directly with actor Yash's upcoming film, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. Varma has framed this clash as something far beyond a typical box office competition.

He coined the term "Dhuroxic" to describe this cinematic showdown. Varma sees it as a collision between two distinct filmmaking philosophies.

Ultra-Realistic vs Ultra-Unrealistic Cinema

Varma provided a detailed analysis of both films' approaches. He described Dhurandhar as built on cause, effect, and consequence. The film explores violence with moral, psychological, and political foundations.

"The Characters act because they must, not because they will look cool," Varma explained. He believes Dhurandhar respects its audience's intelligence.

In contrast, he characterized Toxic as prioritizing style over logic. According to Varma, violence in Toxic exists to display attitude rather than necessity. He suggested Toxic assumes audiences want stimulation rather than emotional engagement.

A Defining Moment for Indian Cinema

Varma speculated that this clash could mark a significant shift in Indian cinema. He wondered if audiences would continue to root for dark heroes in slow motion. The filmmaker questioned whether smoking in slow motion still represents depth of character.

"Watching Dhuroxic side by side on march 19th will be like being inside a war zone versus next to a fashion shoot," Varma wrote. He described one film as cutting into flesh while the other poses for the camera.

Varma suggested this clash might end the era of hero worship ushered in by pan-India films from the south. He envisioned a possible future where audiences seek relatable humans rather than bulletproof masculine gods. However, he acknowledged that only time will tell which direction audiences will prefer.

Toxic's Star Cast

The competing film Toxic features its own impressive lineup. Yash leads the cast alongside Kiara Advani and Nayanthara. The film also stars Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth.

Dhurandhar's Box Office Triumph

Meanwhile, the first Dhurandhar film continues its historic box office run. Released on December 5, the spy-thriller has achieved remarkable numbers in its 44-day theatrical journey.

Record-Breaking Collections

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Dhurandhar has minted ₹821.35 crore in India net collection. The film grossed ₹985.40 crore in India with overseas earnings reaching ₹293.60 crore.

This brings the worldwide collection to an impressive ₹1,279.00 crore. Reports indicate Dhurandhar has become the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time.

Unprecedented Footfall

The film has attracted nearly 3.5 crore viewers to theaters. This massive footfall demonstrates the franchise's tremendous popularity among Indian audiences.

As the anticipation builds for Dhurandhar 2, all eyes remain on this developing cinematic rivalry. The clash between Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic promises to be one of the most talked-about events in recent Indian film history.
