Dipke to Announce Future Course After Pradhan's Exit
Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has stated that he will soon spell out the future course of action following the exit of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan from the education ministry. Dipke alleged that the Centre remains indifferent towards pressing students' issues, including rising suicides and lack of education reforms.
Background of the Protest
Dipke has been leading a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, demanding action on student suicides and comprehensive education reforms. The protest has drawn parallels with earlier agitations by farmers and activist Sonam Wangchuk. Dipke criticized the government for not addressing the root causes of student distress.
Key Demands and Allegations
Among the key demands are a national education policy overhaul, mental health support in institutions, and an end to what Dipke calls a "toxic" competitive environment. He claimed that the government's indifference has led to a crisis, with over 10,000 student suicides reported in the last five years. "The Centre must act now," Dipke said, according to the Tribune News Service.
Political Reactions
The exit of Dharmendra Pradhan, who was seen as a key figure in education policy, has raised questions about the government's commitment. Dipke stated that he would consult with other student groups and activists before announcing the next steps. The CJP has also sought a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
