Eight people have been arrested in connection with a ruckus that occurred during the Kempegowda Jayanti celebration in Chikkaballapur, according to police officials. The incident, which took place on Friday, led to tension in the town, prompting authorities to step up security at various locations on Saturday.

The disturbance broke out during the annual event honoring the founder of Bengaluru, Kempegowda. Witnesses reported that a group of individuals began shouting slogans and disrupting the proceedings, leading to a scuffle with security personnel. A suo motu case has been registered at the Chikkaballapur town police station, and investigations are underway. “We have taken the matter seriously and arrested eight individuals involved in the ruckus. The situation is now under control,” said a senior police officer on condition of anonymity.
