Historic Milestone for Women in Politics
When asked about the bill, which was passed in 2023 and is set to be implemented from the next election cycle, ensuring 33% reservation for women in Parliament and State Assemblies, Ganguly expressed immense pride. She highlighted the long struggle behind this achievement, noting that it took approximately 27 to 28 years of persistent effort by countless women to reach this pivotal moment. "I am just so proud that for so many years, so many women must have fought for this," she stated, emphasizing the significance of finally seeing tangible progress toward gender parity in political representation.

Ganguly attributed the successful implementation of the Women's Reservation Bill directly to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She pointed out that this milestone became possible only after his government came into power, contrasting it with previous administrations that, in her view, failed to enact such measures. "Modi ji, you see, all the reforms, all the things, he keeps women in the center," she remarked, underscoring his focus on women-centric policies.
Highlighting Key Reforms and Societal Changes
The actress specifically praised the Sukanya Samriddhi scheme, a financial savings program for girls, questioning why earlier governments did not introduce similar initiatives. She reflected on past societal issues, such as female infanticide and high mortality rates, where distressing practices like dipping newborn girls in milk were reported. Ganguly observed a positive shift under Modi's tenure, stating, "But are you hearing all these things after Modi ji came to power? You are not." She commended his efforts to uplift women and girls, describing them as "simply commendable" and rooted in his personal regard for every woman as a mother, sister, or daughter.
