Saanand Verma on Saxena's Big Screen Debut: Beyond Comedy in Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain Film
Saanand Verma: Saxena's Film Has More Than Just Comedy

Popular television actor Saanand Verma is set to make a significant transition to the big screen with his role as Saxena in the upcoming film Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain—Fun on the Run. While the character has already garnered a massive fan following on the small screen, Verma emphasizes that the cinematic adaptation offers a richer and more diverse experience beyond mere comedy.

More Than Just Laughs: A Multi-Genre Entertainer

In a recent discussion, Verma highlighted that the film is designed as a complete package for audiences. "Comedy is definitely there, but the film has much more," he explains. "It incorporates strong emotional moments, intense drama, thrilling elements, subtle touches of horror, and even captures the essence of a road movie." This blend of genres aims to provide a well-rounded entertainment experience, moving beyond the typical comedic fare associated with the television series.

Defining Success Through Character Recognition

Verma shared his unique perspective on what constitutes success in the acting profession. He outlines it in three distinct stages:

  1. Initial recognition by one's real name.
  2. Being identified by a single iconic character.
  3. The pinnacle: when audiences recognize an actor through multiple fictional roles.

"The highest form of success is when audiences recognise you by multiple fictional characters," Verma states, adding that he feels fortunate to have achieved this level. "People don't just know me as Saxena. Many also recognise me as Dubey ji from Apharan Sabka Katega. In fact, some who haven't watched Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain still call me Dubey ji."

Avoiding Typecasting with Diverse Roles

To maintain this versatility, Verma credits his extensive and varied body of work. Since the inception of Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain, he has actively pursued diverse projects to avoid being pigeonholed. "I've done close to 35–40 films and six web series, playing very different characters across mediums," he notes, referencing notable works such as Pataakha and Sacred Games.

The Unpredictable Charm of Saxena

Reflecting on his iconic role, Verma points out that Saxena's character inherently prevents monotony. "Saxena is unpredictable. I've played countless variations within him, which is why I agreed to continue with the role," he shares. This dynamic nature has allowed him to explore different facets of the character, keeping both the performance and audience engagement fresh over the years.

As Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain—Fun on the Run prepares for its theatrical release, fans can look forward to seeing Saxena in a new light, with Verma's insights promising a film that blends humor with deeper narrative layers.
