Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan has officially announced his next cinematic venture, sending waves of excitement through his fanbase. In a recent interview, the actor confirmed signing a new project but maintained an air of mystery around its specifics, promising a performance in a distinctly different avatar.
Decoding the Clue: A Bengali Biopic
While speaking to Hollywood Reporter India, Khan dropped a tantalizing hint about the film's nature. "It's a biopic, and it's Bengali," he revealed, immediately cautioning that this was a "bad clue." He elaborated that the project might sound more regionally specific than it actually is, but confirmed a key element of his portrayal: "There will be a bit of a Bengali accent."
The Nawab of Pataudi expressed keen enthusiasm for the linguistic challenge ahead. He disclosed an intense preparation plan, stating he would do nothing for the next three months "except figuring that (accent) out." Khan emphasized his excitement to dive deep into the character, focusing on understanding the motivation behind every line of dialogue. "To understand why you’re saying what you’re saying. I just got the line; now I have to understand it," he explained.
Reflecting on Past Preparations and Evolving Work Ethic
When questioned about the last time he invested such concentrated effort into a role, Saif Ali Khan reflected on his career. He asserted that he has worked hard on all his films, whether the effort was visibly apparent or not. However, he acknowledged that certain projects allowed for deeper preparation. "Maybe 'Sacred Games' was the last thing we prepped that way. That was a long time ago," he recalled, referencing his acclaimed Netflix series.
The actor also shared how his perspective on hard work has matured over the years. "Sometimes I feel you can work too hard at the wrong thing," Khan mused. He described the frustration of exhaustive effort that doesn't yield meaningful results as "heartbreaking." His current philosophy champions efficiency and focused collaboration.
A New Philosophy: Focused and Sharp Work
Saif Ali Khan now believes in a more streamlined approach to his craft. "More concentrated work with sharp directors who don’t exhaust you. Nine to six, rock and roll, and you’ve done something amazing," he stated. This method, according to him, ensures the sweat and toil are productive and not wasted, leading to a satisfying creative outcome.
Beyond this untitled biopic, Saif Ali Khan is also set to appear in director Priyadarshan's upcoming film 'Haiwaan', where he will share screen space with actor Akshay Kumar.
