Veteran Screenwriter Salim Khan Hospitalized in Mumbai
Renowned Bollywood screenwriter Salim Khan was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. The father of superstar Salman Khan was urgently taken to the intensive care unit (ICU) and is currently under close medical observation. Initial reports had suggested that the patriarch of the Khan family underwent surgery after experiencing a spike in blood pressure, which led to internal bleeding in the brain.
Hospital Issues Official Clarification on Health Status
The hospital has now released an official statement to clarify the situation regarding Salim Khan's health. According to the medical team, no surgery was performed. Doctors explained, "There was no surgery performed. It was a procedure. So please do not say that there was a surgery performed. It was a procedure which we usually do. Just he had a brain haemorrhage, which was very minimal, which did not require any surgical intervention. Koi surgery ki jarurat nahi thi. Jo procedure karte hain, jaise angiography waise humne k procedure kiya hai unpar baki koi surgery nahi hui hai. (No surgery was needed. We have performed a procedure on him, similar to how an angiography is done; however, no other surgery has been performed."
Family Members Gather at Hospital
Before the official press address, Salim Khan's son Arbaaz Khan arrived at the hospital accompanied by his brother-in-law, Atul Agnihotri, and Dr. Jalil Parkar, who is overseeing Salim Khan's treatment. The veteran screenwriter, celebrated for co-writing iconic Hindi films such as 'Sholay', 'Deewar', and 'Don' with Javed Akhtar, was brought to the hospital by his family doctor, Sandeep Chopra, at approximately 8:30 AM on Tuesday.
Salman Khan reportedly left his shooting schedule on Madh Island in Mumbai to be with his father during this critical time. Other family members, including Arbaaz Khan, Alvira Khan with her husband Atul Agnihotri, and Arpita Khan with her husband Aayush Sharma, also visited the ailing screenwriter at the hospital to offer their support.
