Salim Khan Hospitalized After Brain Hemorrhage, Now Recovering
Legendary screenwriter Salim Khan, father of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, has been hospitalized at Lilavati Hospital for several days following a medical emergency. The veteran writer, known for his iconic collaborations with Javed Akhtar, experienced a minor brain hemorrhage that required immediate medical attention.
Medical Procedure and Initial Condition
Dr. Jalil Parkar, the treating physician, provided crucial details about Salim Khan's condition to the media. "There was minimal brain hemorrhage. A procedure called DSA was done today morning. No surgery was required. He is still on ventilator. By tomorrow hopefully, he will be off ventilator," Dr. Parkar explained.
The doctor further noted that considering Salim Khan's age, the recovery process would naturally take more time. "Keeping in mind the age, the time of recovery is more. He's fine, he's stable... All in all, he's doing quite well," Dr. Parkar added, offering reassurance about the patient's condition.
Positive Health Updates and Recovery Progress
Recent reports indicate significant improvement in Salim Khan's health status. According to entertainment journalist Vickey Lalwani, "Salim Khan is feeling relatively better, and if all goes well, the celebrated writer will be discharged soon."
The update revealed that a brain clot had been successfully treated, and the medical team expects Salim Khan to return home within the next three to four days. Lalwani's post emphasized the challenging nature of the situation, stating, "It was not easy but the prayers have been heard. The team of doctors attending to him have done a very good job and the Khan family is very relieved and happy."
Industry Colleagues Confirm Improvement
Longtime collaborator Javed Akhtar recently provided his own health update about Salim Khan during a book launch event in Mumbai. "Salim is fine now. He's okay and recovering. He's sitting on a chair and talking, and I mean, he has improved," Akhtar told Hindustan Times, confirming the positive trajectory of his friend's recovery.
Bollywood actress Daisy Shah, who has worked extensively with Salman Khan, also shared encouraging news about the screenwriter's condition. "I couldn't meet Salim sir, but I am constantly in touch with Salman sir and his family. Salim Sir is fine now. He is stable. The surgery went well, it was a success and he is under observation, but he is out of danger," Shah informed Filmygyan.
Medical Background and Treatment Details
The medical team at Lilavati Hospital employed a Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) procedure to address the brain hemorrhage. This minimally invasive technique allows doctors to visualize blood vessels in the brain and treat abnormalities without major surgery.
Key aspects of Salim Khan's treatment and recovery include:
- Initial diagnosis of minor brain hemorrhage
- Successful DSA procedure performed in the morning
- No requirement for major surgical intervention
- Temporary ventilator support during initial recovery phase
- Successful treatment of brain clot
- Continuous monitoring by medical specialists
- Expected discharge timeline of 3-4 days
The 87-year-old screenwriter, who co-wrote some of Indian cinema's most memorable films including Sholay, Deewar, and Zanjeer, continues to receive comprehensive medical care as he progresses toward full recovery.
