Sameera Reddy Posts Nostalgic Throwback from Her First Bollywood Song Shoot
Actress Sameera Reddy recently took a delightful trip down memory lane by sharing a throwback photograph from her very first song shoot on social media. The vintage image captures a moment from the filming of the popular track 'Thoda Sa Pyar Hua Hai' from the 2002 Bollywood film 'Maine Dil Tujhko Diya.'
A Blast from the Past in Egypt
The nostalgic photo, which Sameera posted to her Instagram stories, shows her posing alongside renowned choreographer and filmmaker Farah Khan. The shoot took place in Egypt, marking Sameera's debut into film music. The song itself was crooned by playback legends Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik and was picturized on Sameera Reddy and actor Sohail Khan.
Accompanying the image, Sameera added a heartfelt caption: "My first film song in Egypt. @farahkhankunder we look like kids." Farah Khan, clearly amused, reshared the story on her own official handle and responded with, "U were a kid! @reddysameera."
The Film and Its Star-Studded Cast
'Maine Dil Tujhko Diya' was directed, produced, and written by Sohail Khan. The film boasted a supporting cast featuring prominent actors such as Sanjay Dutt, Kabir Bedi, and Dalip Tahil, among others. This project served as a significant early milestone in Sameera Reddy's burgeoning Bollywood career.
Revelations About a Missed Opportunity
The throwback post ignited conversations about the professional history between the two women. Farah Khan, who choreographed Sameera in this song, later had the opportunity to direct her in the actress's debut film, 'Main Hoon Na.' However, a recent revelation added a new layer to their collaboration.
During a visit to Sameera's home for her YouTube channel earlier this year, Farah Khan disclosed a little-known fact. She revealed that she had initially considered Sameera Reddy for the pivotal role of Miss Chandni in 'Main Hoon Na.' This role was ultimately portrayed by actress Sushmita Sen.
"Nobody knows but I had considered you for Main Hoon Na in Sushmita Sen's role. I had seen your song, 'Aahista Kijiye Baatein' and you were dressed in Indian wear," Farah shared during their conversation.
Surprise and Disappointment Over Changed Circumstances
Sameera Reddy was visibly surprised and intrigued by this revelation. She immediately asked Farah, "Oh My God! I want to know why you didn't take me." Farah Khan explained that circumstances had shifted by that time, stating simply, "Because by then you had taken up 'Maine Dil Tujhko Diya'."
While elated to have been considered for such a significant role, Sameera could not hide her disappointment at missing out on the opportunity. This candid exchange highlights the unpredictable nature of casting decisions and career paths in the film industry.
The shared memory and subsequent discussion offer fans a rare glimpse into the 'what-ifs' of Bollywood history, connecting Sameera Reddy's first song to a major film role that almost was.
