Shah Rukh Khan's Knight Riders Group, in partnership with Major League Cricket, has opened a new cricket stadium in Pomona, California. The venue will serve as the home ground for the Los Angeles Knight Riders and is scheduled to host cricket matches during the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Stadium inauguration and vision
The Bollywood star announced the opening on social media, calling it the realisation of a long-held dream. He wrote, "What started as a dream… turns into reality today. Welcoming you all to the Knight Riders Cricket Ground, LA. A place built not just for sports but also entertainment and for families… and memories that last forever." He thanked Jay Shah, the International Cricket Council (ICC), and Sanjog Gupta for their support.
Expansion of Knight Riders portfolio
Shah Rukh Khan has been involved in cricket since 2008, when he purchased a stake in the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) alongside Juhi Chawla and Jay Mehta. The IPL investment has since expanded into a global sporting group, which also includes the Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League. The Los Angeles franchise is the latest addition to this portfolio.
Facilities and ICC accreditation
The stadium is equipped for both training and match-day requirements. It features locker rooms, practice areas, luxury seating, on-site parking, food stalls, and floodlights for evening games. The pitch has been built to ICC accreditation standards, enabling the ground to host international matches.
Upcoming film release
Shah Rukh Khan's next film, Siddharth Anand's King, is set for release on December 24, 2026. The movie marks a significant family moment, as his daughter Suhana Khan will share screen space with him and Deepika Padukone in a key role.
