CBSE 12th Supplementary Exam 2026 Dates Announced

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially announced the dates for the Class 12 supplementary examinations for the academic year 2025-2026. According to the official notification released on July 2, 2026, the CBSE 12th supplementary exams will be conducted from July 15, 2026, to July 30, 2026. This examination is for students who failed one or more subjects in the regular board exams and wish to improve their scores or clear the compartment.

Registration Process and Fee

Students who are eligible for the supplementary exams can register online through the official CBSE website. The registration window will open on July 5, 2026, and close on July 10, 2026. The board has also provided a correction window from July 11 to July 12 for any discrepancies in the application form. The fee for the supplementary exam is Rs. 300 per subject for general category students, while for SC/ST/PwD students, the fee is Rs. 120 per subject. Late fee of Rs. 2000 will be applicable for registrations after the deadline, as per the official notice.

Exam Pattern and Syllabus

The supplementary exams will follow the same pattern and syllabus as the regular board exams. The question paper will be of 100 marks for each subject, with a duration of 3 hours. However, for subjects with practical components, the theory paper will be of 70 marks, and the practical exam will be conducted separately by the respective schools. Students are advised to refer to the CBSE sample papers and marking scheme available on the official website for better preparation.

Important Dates and Admit Card

CBSE will release the admit cards for the supplementary exams tentatively on July 12, 2026. Students can download their admit cards from the official website using their roll number and date of birth. The board has also announced that the results for the supplementary exams will be declared by August 20, 2026. According to CBSE officials, approximately 1.5 lakh students are expected to appear for the Class 12 supplementary exams this year, based on previous year trends.

In 2025, the CBSE Class 12 supplementary exam saw a pass percentage of 65.4%, with over 1.2 lakh students appearing. This year, the board aims to streamline the process with online registrations and digital admit cards to reduce errors.
