CBFC Awards 'A' Certificate to Shahid Kapoor's Anticipated Film 'O'Romeo'
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has officially cleared Shahid Kapoor's eagerly awaited movie 'O'Romeo' with an 'A' rating, marking a significant milestone in its journey to theatrical release. The certification was granted on February 11, following the implementation of specific cuts and modifications mandated by the censor board.
Dialogue and Scene Modifications Implemented
As per reports from Bollywood Hungama, the CBFC required several adjustments to the film's content before approval. Key changes included:
- Replacing the word 'item' with 'Kumari' in dialogues.
- Muting one term and removing an 'inappropriate' word from multiple sequences.
- Notably, the board did not demand cuts to romantic or intimate scenes, focusing instead on violent content.
These alterations were made to align with the CBFC's certification guidelines, ensuring the film meets regulatory standards.
Violent Scenes Trimmed and Runtime Finalized
The censor board specifically targeted violent imagery in 'O'Romeo', requesting edits to reduce graphic content. Modifications included:
- Shortening a throat-cutting shot by approximately three seconds.
- Making quick cuts to scenes depicting blood on a woman's face and a head injury.
- Trimming a moment where a woman is slapped.
Additionally, the film now incorporates anti-smoking and anti-tobacco messages, with disclaimers and voice-over extended by about two minutes. After these changes, the final runtime stands at 178.41 minutes (nearly 2 hours and 58 minutes).
Release Date and Star-Studded Cast
With CBFC clearance secured, 'O'Romeo' is set for a theatrical release on February 12, 2027, perfectly timed for the Valentine's Day weekend. This film marks Shahid Kapoor's fourth collaboration with acclaimed director Vishal Bhardwaj.
The movie boasts an impressive ensemble cast, featuring:
- Nana Patekar
- Avinash Tiwary
- Tamannaah Bhatia
- Disha Patani
- Farida Jalal

Reportedly inspired by Hussain Zaidi's book 'Mafia Queens of Mumbai', 'O'Romeo' combines star power with a compelling narrative, now ready to captivate audiences following its successful certification process.
