ShortFlicks Entertainment Launches New Platform for Independent Filmmakers

The journey of independent short films is often marked by sleepless nights and relentless creative effort, yet many of these cinematic works struggle to find an audience after their initial festival runs. Frequently, they are limited to a handful of online shares before fading quietly into digital obscurity. Recognizing this significant gap in the film ecosystem, ShortFlicks Entertainment is stepping forward with an innovative solution.

Introducing ShortFlicks Screen & Speak, Edition I

The company is launching a new initiative titled ShortFlicks Screen & Speak, Edition I. This platform is specifically designed to create a dedicated space where independent filmmakers can showcase their work on the big screen while engaging directly with audiences. The inaugural edition is scheduled to take place on April 10, organized by ShortFlicks Entertainment in association with the International Kolkata Short Film Festival.

Unlike traditional film festivals, this platform is not structured as a competition. There will be no awards, trophies, or judging panels. Instead, the initiative seeks to establish a meaningful exhibition environment where filmmakers can present their creations, interact with viewers, and discuss the stories and processes behind their films. Organizer Sourav Chakraborty emphasizes that the focus is on visibility and dialogue rather than rivalry.

Event Features and Participating Films

The event will feature curated screenings of short films and music videos, complemented by filmmaker interactions, behind-the-scenes conversations, media engagement, and PR support for the participating creators. Audience entry will be completely free of charge, encouraging film enthusiasts to attend with friends and family and experience short films collectively in a theatrical setting.

Several films have already been submitted for the initiative, including:

  • Iti-The Beginning, starring Debleena Dutt and Biswanath
  • Shudhu Mone Rekho, featuring Falguni Chatterjee and Manasi Sinha
  • Bhalo Achhi, starring Debshankar Haldar and Laboni Sarkar
  • Sahara, featuring Chandan Sen

Organizers have confirmed that additional promising films are currently under consideration for inclusion.

Highlighted Films from ShortFlicks Entertainment

Two notable short films part of the ShortFlicks Entertainment showcase are Binimoy and Chhayapath. Both were written by Adityanath Mukherjee and directed by Debjyoti Ghoshal. Binimoy features a cast including Debashish Roy, Alokananda Roy Banerjee, Payel Dutta, Saheb Sarkhel, and Priyanka Chatterjee. Chhayapath stars Shibnath Acharya, Neelanjan Dutta, Meenakshi Ghosh, Suban Roy, Sagar Debnath, and Subrata Sarkar. These films were produced by Keshabananda Mukherjee under the banner of Amaladitya Films and Creative Works.

Building on a Digital Foundation

This new initiative builds upon the digital platform previously launched by ShortFlicks Entertainment through its YouTube channel, IKSFF ShortFlicks. The channel supports independent filmmakers by helping their films reach wider audiences online through a revenue-sharing model, allowing creators to earn from their content.

Speaking about the launch, organizer Sourav Chakraborty stated, "Making a short film requires immense dedication, time, and passion. Our aim is to ensure that these films do not remain unseen but instead reach the audience they truly deserve."

With this initiative, the organizers aspire to cultivate a vibrant platform where independent cinema finds its audience, and short films receive the recognition and space they merit on the big screen, fostering a richer cinematic culture.
