SJ Suryah Opens Up About Career Decision to Reject Blockbuster Film
Actor and filmmaker S. J. Suryah recently shared a significant career revelation during the success meet for the Tamil film 'Love Insurance Kompany.' The event, celebrating the positive audience response to the Vignesh Shivan-directed movie starring Pradeep Ranganathan and Krithi Shetty, became a platform for Suryah's candid reflection on a pivotal professional choice.
The Honest Conversation That Led to Rejection
Speaking at the gathering, SJ Suryah recounted how a director once approached him with a script he genuinely appreciated. "I genuinely liked the story. I suggested a few changes, and he made them. Then I suggested more changes, and he accepted those too," Suryah explained, as reported by India Today. However, the actor soon realized that his continuous input might compromise the filmmaker's original vision.
"I told him, 'I'm moving in a certain direction in my career. But if you keep changing your story for me, you may lose your individuality as a filmmaker,'" Suryah revealed. This moment of professional integrity led him to step away from the project, despite his fondness for the narrative.
'Lubber Pandhu' Emerges as Major Hit After Suryah's Exit
The film in question was later identified as 'Lubber Pandhu,' directed by Tamilarasan Pachamuthu and featuring Attakathi Dinesh in the lead role. Following its release, the movie achieved blockbuster status, garnering widespread acclaim and commercial success. Suryah addressed this outcome with grace, stating, "There were no issues regarding my participation in the movie, but I decided not to be part of it. Now, the movie has turned out to be a hit, and I sincerely appreciate the efforts of the director."
He further expressed admiration for specific scenes in 'Lubber Pandhu' that resonated with him emotionally, highlighting his support for the film's creative achievements.
Praise for Pradeep Ranganathan and Upcoming Projects
During the same event, SJ Suryah also commended actor Pradeep Ranganathan's remarkable journey in the industry. "He once performed in front of me, and I told him, 'You are acting very well, you will become big.' Within seven years, he has gone from zero to hero," Suryah noted, acknowledging Ranganathan's rapid rise to prominence.
Looking ahead, SJ Suryah maintains a busy schedule with multiple ventures. His upcoming projects include:
- His directorial return with the film 'Killer'
- Acting roles in 'Sardar 2'
- A part in the movie 'Bro Code'
This revelation underscores Suryah's commitment to artistic integrity and his respect for fellow filmmakers, even when it means passing on opportunities that later prove successful. His insights offer a rare glimpse into the thoughtful decision-making processes within the competitive Tamil film industry.
