The highly anticipated wedding of Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana and musician-filmmaker Palash Muchhal, scheduled for November 23 in Sangli, has been unexpectedly called off due to a medical emergency involving the cricketer's father.
Family Bond Takes Priority Over Wedding
In an emotional revelation, Palash Muchhal's mother Amita Muchhal has spoken publicly for the first time about the difficult decision to postpone the wedding celebrations. She disclosed that the choice came not from Smriti Mandhana, but from her son Palash, who shares an exceptionally close relationship with Smriti's father, Srinivas Mandhana.
Amita Muchhal explained in an interview with Hindustan Times that Palash made the heartfelt decision to halt all wedding proceedings until Srinivas Mandhana fully recovers from his heart-related medical issue. Despite the haldi ceremony already being completed, Palash stood firm in his resolve not to proceed with the wedding rituals while the family patriarch remained unwell.
Emotional Toll on the Groom
The stress of the situation took a significant physical and emotional toll on Palash Muchhal. His mother revealed that he became so overwhelmed that his health deteriorated rapidly. He cried so much that his condition suddenly worsened, Amita shared, detailing how he required four hours of hospital care.
Palash was admitted to a Mumbai hospital where he received IV drip treatment and underwent ECG tests. While all medical results returned as normal, doctors kept him under observation for several hours to stabilize his condition. His sister, renowned playback singer Palak Muchhal, was spotted visiting him at the hospital during this stressful period.
Unexpected Health Scare
The medical emergency came as a particular shock because Srinivas Mandhana had been in excellent spirits just one day before the incident. According to Amita Muchhal, he had been actively dancing and posting cheerful stories on Instagram, appearing extremely happy and healthy while preparing for his daughter's wedding festivities.
The health issues began while Srinivas was preparing for the baraat ceremony. Initially, he didn't disclose his discomfort, but when his condition worsened, the family immediately called an ambulance for emergency medical attention.
Following the health scare and wedding cancellation, Smriti Mandhana and her bridesmaids removed all wedding-related photographs from their social media accounts. Both families have now shifted their focus entirely toward ensuring complete health recovery and stability before considering any future wedding plans.
The incident highlights the deep emotional bonds within both families and their shared priority of putting health and family wellbeing above all other considerations, even during what should have been one of the happiest occasions of their lives.
