Forged Letter Circulated on Social Media
Congress Member of Parliament Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has formally complained to the Director General of Police of Punjab about a forged letter circulating on social media. The document falsely claims that Randhawa has been appointed as the president of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC).
Complaint Details
In his complaint, Randhawa described the document, which purports to be issued by the All India Congress Committee (AICC), as a deliberate act of forgery, fabrication, impersonation, and dissemination of fake news. He stated that the letter is intended to mislead the public and create political confusion.
Demand for Investigation
The MP has urged the police to register a First Information Report (FIR) against unidentified persons responsible for creating and circulating the forged document. He has also called for a thorough cyber and technical investigation into the matter.
According to Randhawa's complaint, the forged letter was circulated on social media platforms, causing confusion among party workers and the public. He emphasized the need for swift action to prevent further damage and to hold the perpetrators accountable.
Political Context
The incident comes amid ongoing organizational changes within the Punjab Congress. Randhawa, a prominent Dalit leader from the Gurdaspur constituency, has been vocal about various issues in the state. The fake appointment letter appears designed to exploit the sensitive political environment.
As of now, the Punjab Police have not issued a statement on the complaint. The AICC has also not commented on the forged document. Randhawa has expressed confidence that the police will take appropriate action to identify those behind the forgery.
