The recent exit of Deepika Padukone from the film 'Spirit' has ignited a fresh debate about work hours in Bollywood. This discussion has now drawn comments from veteran actor Suniel Shetty, who has shared his firm stance on the matter.
Suniel Shetty's Clear Stance on Work Hours
In a candid interview with Mid-Day, Suniel Shetty expressed his personal approach to work schedules. The actor stated clearly that he prefers to stick to defined work hours.
"Even being a part of the industry, I have only made sure that I work during my work hours," Shetty said. "If it's a 9 to 6, I would expect it to be 9 to 6."
Flexibility with Understanding
However, Shetty emphasized that he shows flexibility when producers face genuine difficulties. "If my producer is in trouble, I'll do a 9 to 9 the next morning, but that understanding is important; otherwise, you can't get the best output from me," he explained.
The actor made it clear that excessively long shifts don't work for him. "You're talking about 12-hour or 18-hour work. It's not possible," Shetty stated firmly.
The Importance of Breaks for Performance
Suniel Shetty, known for his action roles, stressed how crucial breaks are for his work. "I was an 'action hero,' and if I don't get my break or my lunch, I become the most irritable person," he shared. "I need that break because that's what recharges me. So, if you want the best output, you give me my breaks."
Against Overextension
In the same conversation, Shetty expressed his belief that constant overextension doesn't lead to achievement. "A person cannot achieve anything in life by overextending yourself or constantly pushing your limits," he remarked.
The actor connected this to his lifestyle, stating "Fitness is my life." Shetty added, "I am who I am because of fitness, and if you take away the gym from me, you take away my life." He concluded that people expecting work from him need to understand this fundamental aspect of his routine.
Upcoming Projects
On the professional front, Suniel Shetty has two major films in the pipeline. He will appear in Ahmed Khan's 'Welcome To The Jungle' and the much-anticipated 'Hera Pheri 3'. Production teams have not yet announced release dates for either project.
