Supreme Court Dismisses Plea for Vijay's Film CBFC Clearance

The legal battle surrounding Thalapathy Vijay's highly anticipated film 'Jana Nayagan' continues to unfold. The Supreme Court has now made a significant decision regarding the film's certification process.

Supreme Court's Clear Stance

On Thursday, the Supreme Court dismissed a plea filed by KVN Productions. The production company sought immediate clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification. The apex court firmly stated it would not interfere at this stage of the proceedings.

The court directed the makers to return to the Madras High Court. It emphasized that the matter must be argued before the division bench there. The Supreme Court specifically asked the High Court to endeavor to decide the appeal on January 20.

Background of the Legal Journey

Earlier this week, the Madras High Court stayed a single judge's order. That order had asked the CBFC to grant clearance to the film. Following this stay, the producers approached the Supreme Court against the High Court's decision.

The division bench of the Madras High Court had previously pulled up the makers. It criticized them for showing what it called a "false sense of urgency." The bench had also directed the CBFC to hold the certificate until the case received a full hearing.

Current Status of 'Jana Nayagan'

As of now, 'Jana Nayagan' remains without CBFC approval. The film marks Vijay's final project before he enters politics full-time. Directed by H. Vinoth, the movie features an impressive ensemble cast.

Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priyamani, and Narain all star in this production. The delay has prompted a response from the production team.

Producer's Emotional Appeal

Venkat K. Narayana of KVN Productions shared a video message on Instagram after the delay. He spoke about Vijay's crucial importance to the project. Narayana expressed strong belief in what the actor deserves.

"Above all, we firmly believe that Thalapathy Vijay sir deserves the farewell he has earned through decades of love from his fans," he stated. The production house remains hopeful for a positive resolution soon.

The entertainment industry and fans eagerly await the outcome of the January 20 hearing. All eyes now turn to the Madras High Court for the next development in this ongoing certification saga.
