Vijay Sethupathi's Trust in Vetri Maaran's Vision

Speaking at a recent event organized by Behindwoods TV, Vijay Sethupathi opened up about this new venture. Interestingly, the actor revealed that he is not yet fully aware of the intricacies of his character in 'Arasan'. He described the experience as fascinating, highlighting a special conversation with the director. "Vetri sir mentioned that my face constantly came to his mind while he was writing this particular character. He even asked, 'Shall I continue to have you in my mind?'. Hearing that made me incredibly happy," shared Sethupathi, underscoring the unique creative bond they share.

Praising a Director's Depth and Artistry

Reflecting on his repeated collaborations with Vetri Maaran, Vijay Sethupathi heaped praise on the director's profound skills. He described Maaran not just as a great writer but as a deep-thinking artist whose understanding of cinema and human emotions is exceptional. Working with him is more than a film project; it is an immersive journey into the very essence of storytelling. Sethupathi elaborated that every discussion with Vetri Maaran becomes a learning experience, offering deeper insights into narrative nuances, political thought, and the complexities of the human psyche.

A Similar Faith in Director Mysskin

Vijay Sethupathi also spoke about his working relationship with another esteemed director, Mysskin, known for films like 'Train'. He placed Mysskin in the same category of inspiring creators, stating that one can learn immense amounts simply by observing and conversing with him. "When you collaborate with such personalities, many realizations dawn upon you unconsciously. In that regard, Mysskin sir is a very important director," he noted. This belief is so strong that Sethupathi agreed to act in Mysskin's 'Train' without even hearing the script. "Mysskin sir simply asked, 'Can I come?' I immediately said, 'Okay,'" the actor recounted, showcasing his immense faith in visionary filmmakers.
