CBI Issues Third Summons to Thalapathy Vijay in Ongoing Karur Stampede Investigation
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has once again summoned popular actor and politician Thalapathy Vijay for questioning in connection with the tragic Karur stampede case. This marks the third time the probe agency has called upon Vijay to appear before its investigation team, with the latest summons scheduled for March 10, 2026.
Vijay Formally Requests 15-Day Extension and Change of Location
In response to the summons, Vijay has submitted two formal requests to the CBI. Firstly, he has asked for a 15-day extension before appearing for questioning. This request is reportedly due to his heavy political commitments as he actively campaigns ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu legislative assembly elections.
Secondly, the actor has sought a change in the questioning location. Originally asked to appear at the CBI headquarters in New Delhi, Vijay has requested that the agency conduct the interrogation in Chennai or a nearby location instead. This move aims to avoid travel complications while he maintains his rigorous political campaign schedule.
Investigation Team Yet to Make Final Decision on Requests
As of now, the CBI investigation team has not reached a final decision regarding either the extension request or the change of location. However, sources indicate that the agency is considering rescheduling the questioning due to Vijay's current political engagements. The Karur stampede tragedy occurred in September 2025 and has remained under detailed investigation since then.

Amid these developments, a video featuring Vijay and actress Trisha Krishnan recently went viral on social media. The clip showed the two stars arriving together in traditional attire at the wedding reception of film producer Kalpathi Suresh's son. Vijay was seen stepping out of a car holding a bouquet, with Trisha walking behind him as they entered the venue.
