A tragic incident has emerged from Faridabad, where a 21-year-old volleyball player from Rajasthan was allegedly kidnapped and beaten to death by the family members of a minor girl he was reportedly in a relationship with, officials confirmed on Saturday.
Victim and Suspects Identified
The deceased has been identified as Monu, a resident of Saidpur village in Rajasthan's Bhiwadi district. The minor girl involved is from Faridabad, according to police reports. Based on a complaint filed by Monu's family, an FIR has been registered, and two suspects have been detained in connection with the crime.
Details of the Incident
According to the complaint lodged by the victim's family, the girl's relatives allegedly abducted Monu, kept him tied up inside their house for three days, starved him, and subjected him to continuous assault. His family further alleged that he was later thrown out of the house in a half-dead condition. He was subsequently admitted to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Narender Kumar, the deceased's uncle, revealed that Monu was a talented volleyball player who had won several state-level medals and had recently passed Class 12 with 70 percent marks. He further disclosed that a case had been registered against Monu in April at the Tigaon police station for allegedly kidnapping a minor girl. However, the girl was later recovered, and an investigation into Monu was ongoing since then.
According to Kumar, Monu left home for the police station on May 17, stating that the police had some questions to ask. During this time, the girl's family abducted Monu from the road. He was tortured from May 17 to 20. Then, they threw him out of the house. That same day, the family received information from the police that Monu was injured and was being taken to the hospital for treatment. They immediately reached the hospital, where he died on Friday.
Police Investigation Underway
A Faridabad police spokesperson confirmed that a case has been registered based on the complaint, and the matter is currently under investigation. Two suspects have been detained and are being questioned, the official added.
