Yuvika Choudhary Opens Up About Returning to Work After Embracing Motherhood
In an exclusive interview with Times of India TV, actress Yuvika Choudhary has revealed her emotional journey of returning to work after taking a significant break following the birth of her daughter. The actress, who recently joined the reality television show The 50, spoke candidly about the challenges and motivations behind her comeback as a working mother.
A Difficult Decision Supported by Family
Leaving her one-year-old daughter Ekleen was not an easy choice, Choudhary admitted. "It was very hard for me to leave my daughter and decide to do The 50," she confessed. However, the actress emphasized the crucial role her family plays in enabling her career return. "Her grandparents—nana, nani, dada, and dadi—are taking care of her. When your own parents look after your child, it's the biggest support you can get, and we are truly blessed."
Choudhary made it clear that without this family support system, her participation in the show would have been impossible. "My baby is with her nani, and if that wasn't the case, I wouldn't have come for the show," she stated firmly.
The Purposeful Break and Timely Return
The actress explained that she deliberately took a full year off work to focus entirely on her daughter. "Ekleen is one year old, and during this entire year, I didn't work because I wanted to be fully there for her," Choudhary shared. She expressed satisfaction with this decision, noting, "I'm really happy that I could give her that time. I took a break to be with her."
Now, Choudhary feels the timing is right for her professional return. "Now, I feel it's time for me to return to work. I am a working mother, a working wife, and an independent woman," she declared. The actress highlighted the importance of maintaining her identity beyond motherhood, adding, "At the end of the day, I also matter."
Motherhood as Motivation and Transformation
Choudhary sees her return to work as an opportunity to set an example for her daughter. "I started my career with hard work, and I want my daughter to see how her mother works and never gives up," she explained. Despite the physical separation, she remains connected to Ekleen through technology. "I just spoke to her—she smiled, said 'hi mama,' gave me flying kisses and hugs. She doesn't talk much yet, but those little moments mean everything to me."
The actress acknowledged how motherhood has fundamentally changed her. "One hundred percent, motherhood has made me emotionally stronger but I'm vulnerable also at times," Choudhary revealed. She described the complex emotional landscape new mothers navigate, noting, "I have gone through a lot emotionally, especially because I gave birth recently. Usually, it takes two or three years to heal completely, both physically and emotionally."
Partner Support and Personal Growth
Choudhary credited her husband, Prince Narula, with providing essential support throughout her motherhood journey and career decisions. "Prince has been a huge support throughout this journey of motherhood," she said. While reality shows aren't typically her comfort zone, having an experienced partner by her side makes a significant difference. "Having a partner who understands everything makes a big difference. I'm not dependent on him, but it feels reassuring because he's experienced and knows the game well."
The couple's strong bond extends beyond their professional collaboration. "We are friends even off screen, and that friendship will clearly be seen on the show," Choudhary promised viewers.
Rediscovery Through The 50 Experience
For Choudhary, participating in The 50 represents more than just another television appearance—it's a journey of self-discovery. "On the show, people will see every side of me, my strength, my vulnerability, and my emotions in different forms," she anticipated. The actress expressed curiosity about her transformed self, stating, "I am curious to see myself, because after becoming a mother, I feel like a completely new person."
She emphasized that her focus isn't on competition or other contestants. "For me, this journey is not about who else is coming on the show. It's about me entering the show with myself, understanding who I am now, and rediscovering myself," Choudhary concluded, marking this chapter as both a professional return and personal renaissance following her transformative year of motherhood.
