Akhanda 2 Box Office Day 7: Balakrishna's Film Crosses ₹76 Crore, Ranks 8th in Tollywood 2025
Akhanda 2 Box Office: ₹76.64 Crore in 7 Days

Nandamuri Balakrishna's much-anticipated action spectacle, Akhanda 2 Thaandavam, has concluded its opening week on a powerful note, amassing a formidable total at the domestic box office. Despite a turbulent release schedule, the film has successfully crossed a significant milestone, cementing its position among the year's top performers in the Telugu film industry.

A Week One Powerhouse: The Numbers Breakdown

According to data from the industry tracker Sacnilk, Akhanda 2 has collected a net total of ₹76.64 crore across India in its first seven days. The film opened with a thunderous start on December 11, registering an impressive Day 1 collection of ₹22.5 crore. The core Telugu-speaking audience has been the primary driver of this success, contributing a massive ₹73.3 crore to the week's earnings. The Tamil-dubbed version of the movie also posted respectable figures, adding to the overall tally.

However, the collections have seen a steady decline after the initial weekend. The film experienced its most significant drop of 65.23% on Monday, a common trend for big releases following the opening rush. On its seventh day, Thursday, the movie saw a further dip of 16.97%, earning ₹2.74 crore. Industry observers are now keenly watching the second weekend, anticipating a positive turnaround in numbers as family audiences and fans return to theatres.

Occupancy Rates and Industry Standing

The audience turnout on Day 7 reflected the film's steady hold. In Telugu regions, Akhanda 2 recorded an overall occupancy of 16.07% on Thursday. The viewership was fairly consistent throughout the day, with evening shows leading at 17.55%, followed by night shows (16.98%), afternoon shows (16.46%), and morning shows (13.28%). In the Tamil market, the film managed an overall occupancy of 13.99%.

This first-week performance has secured a notable achievement for the Balakrishna-starrer. Akhanda 2 has claimed the spot as the eighth highest-grossing film in Tollywood for the year 2025 so far. In the process, it has overtaken the lifetime box office collections of Naga Chaitanya's recent release, Thandel. While the numbers are encouraging, the film has not managed to meet the sky-high blockbuster predictions that preceded its release.

Behind the Scenes: Release Drama and Plot

The film's journey to the theatres was anything but smooth. Originally scheduled for a grand premiere on December 5, Akhanda 2 was abruptly postponed just hours before its first show. The production house, 14 Reels Entertainment, cited "unavoidable circumstances" in a social media announcement. However, widespread media reports indicated that a legal dispute involving the producers and Eros was the actual cause for the last-minute delay. The film eventually hit screens on December 11.

On the narrative front, Akhanda 2 sees Balakrishna reprise his role as the formidable protector, Akhanda, who wields divine power to combat evil. The sequel intensifies the conflict with the introduction of a new supernatural antagonist, portrayed by Aadhi Pinisetty. The film is a lavish blend of mythology, tradition, and high-octane action, promising a grand cinematic clash between the forces of good and evil.

Looking ahead, reports suggest that after its theatrical run, Akhanda 2 will be available for streaming on Netflix. The OTT giant has reportedly acquired the digital rights to the film, although an official release date for the online premiere is yet to be announced.
