Border 2 Box Office Day 13: Sunny Deol's Film Witnesses Decline After Global Success

The Sunny Deol-starrer Border 2 has experienced a noticeable slowdown in its box office performance during its second week, despite achieving significant global milestones. On its thirteenth day in theaters, the patriotic action drama minted approximately Rs 4 crore in domestic collections, according to early estimates and industry reports.

Domestic and Worldwide Collection Figures

This latest earning brings the film's total domestic collection to an impressive Rs 290.75 crore. Meanwhile, the worldwide earnings have crossed the Rs 400 crore mark, reaching approximately Rs 411.76 crore globally. This positions Border 2 as a substantial commercial success, though its daily collections have shown volatility.

The film's Hindi occupancy on Wednesday stood at 8.83%, reflecting the reduced audience turnout compared to its opening days. This decline follows a pattern observed earlier in the week, where the movie saw a steep 74% fall in collections on Monday, earning Rs 5.75 crore compared to Sunday's robust Rs 22.5 crore.

Weekly Performance Analysis

Border 2 managed to maintain some stability on Tuesday, again collecting Rs 5.75 crore, but the momentum could not be sustained into Wednesday. The film's performance highlights the typical second-week challenges faced by major Bollywood releases, even those with strong initial openings.

Directed by Anurag Singh and produced by T-Series and J.P. Films, the movie features an ensemble cast including Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, and Varun Dhawan in lead roles, with supporting performances from Sonam Bajwa, Medha Rana, and Mona Singh.

Comparative Box Office Context

Interestingly, Border 2 was initially compared to Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar, and it stayed ahead of that film in early days. However, it eventually fell behind, as Dhurandhar had earned Rs 437.25 crore within the same thirteen-day period, significantly more than Border 2's current total.

Despite this, Border 2 has become the highest-grossing film of Varun Dhawan's career, surpassing his previous record-holder Dilwale, which earned Rs 148.42 crore in India. For Sunny Deol, however, his last film Gadar 2 remains his career best, having collected Rs 525.7 crore.

Competitive Landscape and Industry Impact

The release of Rani Mukerji's Mardaani 3 offered some competition but failed to significantly impact Border 2's collections. Mardaani 3 has grossed approximately Rs 23.91 crore within six days of release, demonstrating Border 2's continued dominance at the box office despite its recent dip.

Industry analysts are closely watching whether Border 2 can regain momentum in its third week or if the decline will continue. The film's performance serves as a crucial indicator of audience preferences and the evolving dynamics of Bollywood box office trends in 2026.
