Director Aditya Dhar's Heartfelt Tribute to Cinematographer Vikash Nowlakha
Amid the film's roaring success, director Aditya Dhar took a moment to spotlight a crucial contributor to the project. In a warm and emotional Instagram post, Dhar credited cinematographer Vikash Nowlakha as the soul of Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Sharing behind-the-scenes photos, Dhar penned a tribute that highlighted Nowlakha's late but pivotal entry into the team.
Dhar wrote, "Here’s to Vikash Nowlakha, the eye, the instinct, and the soul behind Dhurandhar. He was the last HOD to come on board, just a few days before we began. Knowing how selective he is, that timing felt like destiny stepping in. After reading the script, he said, 'I’ve waited 30 years to do a film like this. I’ll give my life to it.' And he meant every word."
Behind the Scenes: Devotion and Endurance in Extreme Conditions
The director described the collaboration as more than just professional work, emphasizing Nowlakha's deep commitment from day one. Dhar praised the cinematographer's resilience, noting, "What followed was not just work, it was devotion. Through impossible schedules, chaos, and shooting what was essentially two films in the time and cost of one, Vikash stood steady and relentless."
The team faced grueling conditions during filming, from the burning heat of Amritsar to the harsh cold of Leh. Yet, Nowlakha remained focused, never letting the vision falter. Dhar highlighted his unique ability to infuse life into every frame, stating, "Every frame in Dhurandhar breathes because he allowed it to. He didn’t just capture moments, he gave them life. His inputs were always precise, truthful, and elevating."
Record-Breaking Box Office Performance and Future Collaborations
Dhurandhar: The Revenge has already set new benchmarks, becoming the highest-grossing Indian film ever in North America, surpassing Baahubali 2. It also crossed the lifetime collection of the original Dhurandhar in just 11 days. The film stars Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, and others in lead roles.
Concluding his tribute, Dhar expressed immense gratitude and hope for future projects, saying, "He has given Dhurandhar something that cannot be manufactured—a soul. I feel immense gratitude, respect, and affection for the artist he is. This film carries his imprint forever, and I know this is only the beginning. The stories we will tell together will shine even brighter and create something truly timeless."
