Dhurandhar Slows in Week 5 After Record Run, Crosses Rs 782 Cr Net
Dhurandhar Box Office Slows, Crosses Rs 782 Cr Net

The blockbuster juggernaut 'Dhurandhar', after a month of shattering box office records, has finally begun to show signs of slowing down in its fifth week of release. The film, which hit theatres on December 5, stars an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, and Akshaye Khanna.

A Historic Box Office Journey

'Dhurandhar' embarked on a record-breaking spree, surpassing the collections of major hits like 'Stree 2', 'Jawan', and ultimately the previous all-time Hindi record holder, 'Pushpa 2'. It displayed remarkable resilience by holding strong against competition from big releases such as Hollywood's 'Avatar Fire And Ash', 'Tu Meri Main Tera', and the more recent 'Ikkis'.

The film's momentum inevitably faced a dip as the holiday period concluded. A significant downward trend became evident from January 5 onwards. Despite this expected slowdown, 'Dhurandhar' achieved a monumental milestone, officially becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film in history. It eclipsed the previous record of approximately Rs 735 crore net held by 'Pushpa 2'.

Week-by-Week Collection Breakdown

The film maintained a stellar run, generating double-digit daily figures consistently until the recent drop. By the end of its fourth week, its total stood at an impressive Rs 106.5 crore. It entered its fifth Friday on a high note, collecting Rs 8.75 crore.

The following day, Day 30 (Saturday), saw a collection of Rs 11.75 crore. On Day 31 (Sunday), it added Rs 12.75 crore to its kitty. However, the weekdays brought a stark contrast. Monday, Day 32, recorded its lowest single-day figure since release at Rs 4.75 crore, a pattern repeated on Tuesday, Day 33, with another Rs 4.75 crore.

Early trends for Day 34 (Wednesday) indicate a further decline, with the film earning approximately Rs 39 lakhs till the afternoon shows. The cumulative result of this historic run is a staggering net collection of Rs 782.14 crore in India. The film's worldwide gross collection has soared to Rs 1,247 crore.

Competition Far Behind

Meanwhile, the other releases in the market are trailing far behind. 'Ikkis', starring Dharmendra, Agastya Nanda, Simar Bhatia, and Jaideep Ahlawat, has shown some potential through positive word-of-mouth but has managed only Rs 9 lakhs on its Day 7 (Wednesday). Its total India net collection currently stands at Rs 23.09 crore.

'Tu Meri Main Tera' appears to have nearly exhausted its theatrical run, collecting a mere Rs 3 lakh on its Day 14 (Wednesday). The film's total collection is now Rs 32.53 crore.

As 'Dhurandhar' enters a phase of natural decline, its place in Bollywood history is firmly cemented. The slowdown is attributed to the simple fact that a vast majority of its target audience across India and globally has already experienced the cinematic spectacle.
