Happy Patel Khatarnak Jasoos Sees Modest Box Office Growth on Day 2

Vir Das' debut directorial venture Happy Patel Khatarnak Jasoos recorded a slight improvement in its box office performance on Saturday. The spy-comedy film earned approximately Rs 1.50 crore net on its second day in theaters.

Collection Figures Show Steady Progress

This represents a modest uptick from the film's opening day collection of Rs 1.25 crore net on Friday. With these combined earnings, the movie's total India net collection now reaches Rs 2.75 crore after two days of release.

Trade tracker Sacnilk provided these latest figures. The numbers indicate a steady hold for the film during its opening weekend despite facing competition from larger releases.

Audience Turnout Remains Subdued

Despite the growth, Happy Patel Khatarnak Jasoos continues to experience low audience turnout in key Hindi-speaking markets. Occupancy rates remained subdued throughout Saturday.

The film recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 12.73% on its second day. Morning shows opened with 8.72% occupancy, followed by afternoon shows at 12.42% and evening shows at 12.39%.

Night shows performed relatively better with 17.38% occupancy. These figures suggest the film is finding some traction with evening audiences.

Vir Das Comments on Film's Performance

Speaking at the Jaipur Literature Festival, Vir Das shared his thoughts about the film's box office opening. The actor-director used humor to put the numbers in perspective.

"If you think about it, we are less than the catering budget of Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar," Das remarked. "We are probably the smallest film out there right now."

Despite this comparison, Das expressed satisfaction with the film's opening performance. "That's why, given how we opened, we're very happy," he said. "Nobody was expecting us to get the opening numbers that we did."

A Niche Comedy Finding Its Audience

Das described Happy Patel Khatarnak Jasoos as a "niche, absurd comedy" that appeals to specific tastes. He noted that the team feels pleased with the initial audience response to their unconventional project.

The director highlighted the importance of the coming days for the film's performance. "Today and tomorrow are crucial," Das explained. "But for a small film like ours, we're in a happy space."

Star-Studded Cast and Production Team

The spy-comedy features Vir Das in a leading role alongside Mithila Palkar, Mona Singh, and Imran Khan. These actors bring their unique talents to this unconventional project.

Aamir Khan Productions backs the film, providing production support. Vir Das co-directs the movie with Kavi Shastri, making this a collaborative directorial effort.

The film represents a departure from mainstream Bollywood offerings. Its modest box office performance reflects its niche positioning in the current cinematic landscape.
